Sally Hansen - Mystic Lilac

Hello Ladies,

Today I have a Sally Hansen Xtreme wear polish from their new fall collection, Mystic Lilac.

Click for larger view!

This colour is a very grayed out lilac with a hint of teal shimmer. I don't consider this a cream, it's actually more of a jelly, but I'm not sure if it is a true jelly. It applied a bit thin, but I got away with 3 coats which is not bad. No visible nail line :)

Click for larger view!

I really like the texture on this one, if thats what you would call it. It is very shiny and reminds me of silly putty lol. Do you ladies know what I'm talking about?!

Click for larger view!

Overall I really like this colour and am glad I picked it up, its such a great fall shade. It's really getting me in the mood for fall, and I loooove fall, and Halloween and thanksgiving, and pumpkins and baking!! :) can't wait!!

I picked up this one before I even knew the new fall collection was out. Next thing I know a couple weeks later everyone is talking about it! Not only is the polish pretty and long lasting, but I snagged it for only $1!

What are your faves from this collection?

Sally Hansen Ultra HD - DVD

Hi Ladies,

Today I have another Sally Hansen Ultra HD, this time on its own. I wore DVD as a mani for 5 days and hardly got any tip wear ... I was wearing 4-5 coats though lol. Thats the only draw back to these polishes, unfortunately they are kind of thin.

First lets start off with some close ups of the bottle to see all the glittery, shimmery goodness :)

Please click on all the images to view them bigger :) I tried to capture the flash and glitter that makes this polish so great. I literally could not stop looking at my nails the whole time I wore it. It looks so pretty in any light setting. I'm gonna make this a short post and let the pictures speak for themselves. Enjoy!

Sally Hansen Nail Prism Diamond - Fun with Holos!

Hey Ladies,

Today I have for you one of my many Nails Prisms :) I love these little guys, some of them are holographic and some are crazy duo-chromes, similar to the new Sally Hansen HD's

Today I have a little experiment I did with Sally Hansen Nail Prism's Diamond and some of the newer Sally Hansen Ultra HDs. (the Ultra HD's are apart of the newer line of HD's, basically more shimmery and pretty!)

Below is one of my Nail Prism holos, Diamond.

Don't let the photo fool you, this polish is pure holo in the right light.
I took the picture at night so all I had was the flash form my camera.

I came up with the idea for this experiment because I long for a bunch of the China Glaze OMG polishes that are no longer in production.

Anyways, I wanted to see what would happen when I layered a holo polish with a sheer coloured duo-chrome polish. Would the holo shine though the coloured polish? Would the coloured polish show through the holo?

I used these Sally Hansen Ultra HD's, left to right, Laser and Spectrum. I currently have DVD on my nails, pure love!! Expect to see a swatch of that shade soon.

Before I show you my layering expariment, I just wanted to let you ladies know that these polishes are sooooo cool! They are thin, DVD took 4-5 coats, but I wanted to see how far I could build it up. Next time I will layer over another polish... which is another post on its own for how cool that is! lol, but the outcome is so worth it. I wish I got more when they were on sale ( I got them for $2.99 CAD,) I love my deals :)

On to the holo-y goodness:

This is Laser layered with Diamond

This is Spectrum layered with Diamond

The shimmery duo chrome in the HD's make the halo so sparkly :) I wish I had gotten some photos in direct sunlight, the holo would be BLINDING!

What do you ladies think of my little experiment?

Leopard Accent - Halos tomorrow, I promise!

Hey Ladies,

I messed up today. I was supposed to be showing you some cool halos ... unfortunately I forgot to upload those photos to my flash drive! What I do have on my flash drive is a mani I am sure you have seen done before. I have seen it a lot I can't remember the first place I saw it but I thought it was cool and tried it out this past spring.

I'm pretty sure I used 2-3 coats of Sally Hansen New Lengths Ceramic Colour in White Ghost, then stamped the leopard Konad pattern with the black special polish. when all was dry, I added in some spots of colour on the leopard nail.

I really enjoyed this look, but remember wishing I had used some brighter colours for the leopard. I think white on it's own looks soo good if you have the right polish and works for any season :)

This pic was taken right after I completed the mani, so please excuse the shiny cuticle oil and lack of full clean up of the Konad ;)

What do you think about this, overdone, or should be done more?

Revlon Polishes - Quick and Dirty Haul Swatches

Hey Ladies,

While changing my polish yesterday I did some quick and dirty skittle swatches of the majority of my Revlon haul. The 2 I didn't include were Gum Drop and Plum Night, Gum Drop is a back up that I have already used on my toes :) and Plum night I had alright swatched the day I got the polishes :) ... but forgot to photograph

On to the polishes:

From left to right - Peach Nectar, Peach Smoothy, Grey Suede, Lilac Pastelle

Lilac Pastelle - a nice lilac cream/jelly? (this was a weird one, semi-jelly? lol either way I like it). 2 coats, applied pretty evenly. If I were wearing this for a full mani I would probably apply 1 last thin coat to avoid any streaking.

I like this colour, it is a bit lighter than Gum Drop and leans more red, where as Gum Drop leans more blue.

Grey Suede - a light brown cream with light golden shimmer. 2 coats, applied very well! I love the subtle shimmer this polish has, this will be great for fall. I wonder how it would look with a matte top coat... I wish I had thought of that last night when swatching!

Although the polish is named "Grey" Suede, the polish is actually a light taupe brown.

Peach Smoothy - a light peach cream with subtle golden shimmer. 2 coats, applied evenly. This is a very nice neutral, the shimmer adds that little something special.

This was one of the Revlon Scented polishes. From what I can remember from last night, the scent was sweat, but not too peachy. It reminded me of vacation lol.

Peach Nectar - a peach jelly. 2 coats, applied evenly. If I were wearing this as a full mani I would definitely add another coat or 2, I didn't expect this shade to be so sheer, it looks so bold and bright in the bottle. I think the extra coats would eliminate the VNL and this polish can also double as a base for a French Mani.

So what do you think of these polishes? Whats your fave?

Revlon Warehouse Sale Haul and a Blog Award :)

Hi Ladies!

Today is the first official day of fall, woot :) As much as I love summer, fall kicks ass. I love that change in season, and I LOOOOVVEEE Halloween, so definitely looking forward to that!

Anyways, on to my mini Haul. I checked out the Revlon/ Johnson & Johnson Sale over the weekend, I was thankful to hear about it over at in a nutshell..., I missed it the last 2 times it was around so thanks for blogging about it :)

Overall it was just ok, nothing too special, plus one side of the warehouse had really weird stuff ... in that section I picked up some halloween cookie cutters lol, this was among the not to weird stuff.

On to what I purchased, nail polish of course:

Left to right: Plum Night, Gum Drop, and Lilac Pastelle

Plum Night - a deep, dark purple
Gum Drop - A light lavender purple with blue undertones (scented when dry)
Lilac Pastelle - a slightly lighter lavender than Gum Drop, red undertones

Left to right: Peach Smoothy, Peach Nectar and Grey Suede

Peach Smoothy - a light peach with subtle shimmer (scented when dry)
Peach Nectar - a medium light peach cream
Grey Suede - a grey/brown/taupe with subtle shimmer

I picked all of these these polishes up for $10, the promo was 3 for $5. They still had a good range of colours left considering the sale started last Tuesday and I went on Saturday. I already owned some of the brighter colours they had, so I left them (with the exception of gum drop, love the colour and the scent!)

Also purchased but not pictured was 2 bottles of Vaseline Sheer Infusion for me and my boyfriend, I got him hooked on this! Its a great lotion, but for the size you get, it is pretty pricy, between $7-$9. At the sale they were $4.50 each.

Now on to the award :) I received the Happy 101 Award yesterday from Anita over at Splashings of Serendipity!

I love the cupcakes, they look so yummy! Thanks again Anita :)

I still have to tag 10 bloggers for this award and 10 for the previous award I received. But it is so hard to pick, so many great blogs! I will definitely post up tonight who I will give these awards to, so stay tuned.

Have a great Tuesday everyone :)

Claire's Mood Polish

Hey ladies!

Today I have for you one of Claire's mood polishes, Daring/Innocent. This is Grey when cold and a peachy yellow when warm.

Application of this polish was super smooth and easy, the polish dried quickly and to a matte finish. Below are my fingers cold.

Below are my fingers warming up.

and lastly, below are my fingers fully warm.

This polish is interesting. I kind of like when it is in between, it has this caramel colour to it that is different. I get a little bit of a funky french with this polish, but I that is due to me chopping off my nails :( ... I had a couple breaks on the weekend, so I decided to start all over.

The "funky French" I do end up getting makes my nails look dirty or something lol it is a very different polish, definitely do not own anything like this in my collection.

I almost wish they had the grey with a more neutral peachy colour, so it would actually look like a French manicure.

What do you think of this polish? If you own it, what has your experience with it been like?

A Boring Haul and great deals!

Hi ladies,

Today I have for you a haul that I find somewhat boring, but since I am still wearing my houndstooth mani, I decided to share it with you anyways :P

I picked up the above polishes for 50 cents each, these are mostly topcoats. From left to right:

- Sally Hansen No Chip 10 day nail colour - Sensual White (for Konading)
- Maybeline Salon Expert - Top coat (* Note - the yellow really threw me off, but I had picked this up before for franking purposes and found that it worked great when I Konad with black and doesn't smudge :) It also has a great shine and does not show yellow when on the nail. I am wearing it currently over my houndstooth mani)
- N.Y.C - Top Coat
- Sally Hansen - Mega Shine Top Coat
- N.Y.C - Nail Colour Quick Dry, I pick these up whenever I find them, they dry my polish super fast!
- N.Y.C - Double Base and Top Coat, I had picked this up accidentally, the quick dry and the top coat look obviously different in the picture, but in real life they look closer together. I thought I was picking up more of the quick dry! When I got home I realized they were different. I have never tried this one before, but am willing to give it a shot.

Next batch of items, left to right:

- Kiss Acrylic Top coat, I'm sure you can tell I am looking for new top coats, I can't stand Orly's anymore!
- Sally Hansen - Nail Nutrition , I picked this up at the Dollar store for $1.25!
-Sally Hansen - Quick Colour (this SUCKS! please don't buy! I saw a review for this on another site and still wanted to try it out for the gimick, but please, don't waste your money on this unless you like thin, sheer colour and a crappy brush! I may do a quick review to show you the crappiness!)
- N.Y.C - Lengthening Mascara, I found this half off at the superstore :)

All of the above were under a $1.25!

Lastly I have some gloss :)

Maybeline volume XL Seduction Lip Plumper
Sally Hansen - Comfort Shine Lip Glaze - Fresh Watermelon
Sally Hansen - Comfort Shine Lip Glaze - Fresh Strawberry

All of the above were $1.00 each

So there you have it, my little haul from the weekend, see anything you like?

Fall Fauxnad

Hi Ladies,

Today I have some Konad/Fauxnad with my previous mani, OPI - Greenwitch Village

I used the houndstooth pattern from the Bundle Monster plate set. This was my first time using one of their full nail designs, it wasn't too difficult to get the stamp center, but I had to practice a bit.

For the stamping polish I used an old Sally Hansen 10 Day No Chip polish (they come in the thinner rectangular/square bottles) The colour I used is Black Berry, its a really really REALLY dark blue in the bottle but stamps black. It's great because it is highly pigmented and dries fast, BUT if you mess up you can just scratch it off and stamp again! I love that! As long as you seal it with a topcoat when you are done, you are good to go :)

It's a little gappy on the sides, but I tried my best to get it entered and straight without having to double stamp every finger.

This was also my first time trying to match up stamp patterns on my thumb nail. They really need to make these design bigger! And I definitely need to practice for next time.

What do you think of the thumb? does it look even to you? lol

Witch Nails

Morning Ladies :)

I will keep this one short today, I am wearing OPI - Greenwitch Village. This is the perfect witch green, it reminds me of the bad witch from the Wizard of OZ! I applied 3 thin coats, application was great because of the pro wide brush :)

I really like this colour for halloween, I'm a little bit of a halloween freak ;). I figured that if I didn't wear this colour now then I probably wouldn't wear it later. I know I will end up with new polish by then lol how sad is that :(

Anyways tomorrow I will post some nail art with this polish :)

What colour in your stash reminds you of Halloween?

Friday's Post - Mani Refresh

Hey Ladies,

I meant to post this on Friday, but unfortunately I got busy and it slipped my mind :( sorry!

I was on at work on Friday admiring my nails then I really took a good look at them and thought I've been wearing this polish since Sunday... and no chips!

... Well ... maybe not NO chips, I have the tiniest, little scratch of a chip on my right middle finger, but other than that... wow! I have VERY slight tip wear but I am still wearing Poseidon from the NOX Twilight line. This polish wears so awesome!

I wish there were more colours in this collection that I liked. I hope that NOX comes out with other polishes that are available for purchase in Canada soon :) And also reduce the price a bit ... and include some more bright jelly/creams lol

On Friday Night I decided to add some free hand nail art. It looks better in real life, I swear! I made some black swoops with a striper brush and and in between each swoop I added some silver glitter. It was more of a boredom thing lol I removed everything on Sunday afternoon and applied some new polish (which I am loving by the way ;) you'll see tomorrow.)

What do you do to refresh a mani?

Long Weekend Haul!

Hi Ladies,

Before I get to the polish today I wanted to share with you the Sunshine award I was given from Megan of Kitschy Suburbia. How Sweet of her, I have never received any of these blog awards before so it is special to me :)

Here are the guidelines:
1. Save the image above and post it on your own blog.
2. Pass the award on to 12 fellow bloggers.
3. Link the nominees.
4. Let nominees know they have won this award by commenting on their blog.
5. Share the love and link to the person you received this award from.

I don't know if I can just pick 12 bloggers, I will need to think about them. Expect to see who I nominate coming up in a future post. Thanks again Megan :)

On to the polish!

I have a small haul full of huge savings lol. Lets start with OPI - Greenwitch Village and NYC Clear Top Coat

I decided to take Tuesday day off this week for an extended long LONG weekend. On Tuesday I relaxed with my boyfriend and we did some minor polish shopping, I was looking for some deals and I soooooo found them!

The OPI I found at Trade Secrets on sale for $5, so far the cheapest OPI I have ever purchased. The NYC top coat I got at Rexall while I picked up the other polishes below. I love the shiny gloss this adds to my polish so I picked another bottle up. I'm not sure it this was on sale, but I got it for $1.60.

Now, these are the real stars of my shopping trip :) I almost didn't even go to Rexall, it was just something to do lol. I found the new Sally Hansen HD full display, hidden almost but on sale for $3.99 each. I was happy with that, I had been picking up and putting these polishes down for weeks now because of the price (usually between $6 - $9 each). So my boyfriend helped pick out the shades and we took a look around the rest of the store.

Then it hit me! I also had coupons for $1 off! Sweet! so I got each polish for $2.99, how awesome it that!

I'm thinking of layering one of these over the NOX twilight polish I posted yesterday, I think I'm leaning towards the purple one :)

Which is your favorite find from my mini haul?

Wednesday, September 8, 2010

Blue Jelly Beans

Hi ladies,

Blue jelly beans is what I think of every time I look at my nails while wearing this polish. It has such a great jelly-ish finish with being opaque in only 2 coats :) If there is only one good thing to come out of the Twilight series, it was defiantly this polish! I'm taking about Poseidon by NOX for Twlilight.

If you remember, this was the polish that my (AMAZING!) boyfriend got for me, he loves his blues :)

Application was okay, I had to add a bit of thinner. The first coat applied a bit streaky but the second one evened it out. The brush was okay, nothing special.

The colour is a beautiful sky blue that makes me think its a jelly, but not really... its hard to describe. Hopefully you can see what I mean from my photos.

So far I have been wearing this shade for 4 days and I have only had one chip on my left pointer finger on the 4th day. I don't think I am ready to take this one off yet, its too pretty! It's too bright, and shiny and squishy!

I'm not sure where you can find these in the States, but in Canada the only place I have been able to find them is at Rexall for $9.99. They had a sale a while back for $2 off, but for some reason during the promo the one closest to me did not get them in stock yet :( You can also purchase these online from their site for $6.99 USD, I'm not sure how much shipping is.

Do I think it's worth the price? For what you are paying you are getting a decent sized bottle of polish, the quality isn't 100% on the one I picked up, but a little thinner could fix that up. It only takes two coats to achieve full opacity on this shade so the bottle should be able to last you a pretty long time.

The other colours in the collection don't really do anything for me, the only other one I'm thinking of picking up would be Citrus, but I'm waiting for another sale ;)

What do you ladies think of the Twilight collection? Have you picked any of these polishes up yet?
