Mini Charlotte

I received Zoya Charlotte in the New Year, New Hue promo Zoya had early this January. When I received the free minis was was not particularly impressed, however, Charlotte has become my favorite of the three. I was actually reaching for OPI, My Vampire is Buff when I decided maybe I should try a new neutral creme.

When compared to the OPI I noticed subtle differences in the colour tone. Charlotte is not only yellow based, but lighter. I find yellow based neutrals tend to look good with my skin tone so I tried it out.

What you see is two coats, one regular and one thinner, no top coat. It was a tad streaky on the first coat, but the second evened everything out.

The formula was good, but I find I prefer to thin most polishes to assist with application if they are a bit thicker and Charlotte was no exception. I'm loving this shade right now, its a great neutral and pallet cleanser from late summer to early fall.

I know, it sounds late to be talking about summer but the weather around here just started shifting to fall like temps this week!

Foxy Mama!

Last neon of "summer". I totally forgot about skipped over posting this mani from early September for the last long weekend of summer.

Color Club Foxy Mama is such a great neon. Not only is it an awesome colour with a gorgeous shimmer, but the wear is fantastic, especially for a neon.

Foxy Mama is a bright orange neon with a yellow/gold shimmer that runs throughout. The shimmer is not too dominant and shines more in direct lighting or bright sunlight.

This lasted me well over a week, it was the perfect polish to end my summer on.

Blue La La!

I picked up this Sinful Colors polish on a whim and have been wearing it for two weeks straight! If you frequent my blog you'll notice that I haven't posted in a few weeks. So much has happened with the start of September and  (think) I am finally getting in the routine of things now. With that being said, I have not been doing my nails as frequently and this polish was perfect to hold me over the last few weeks.

Blue La La is a dusty blue based periwinkle creme. It applied well, and can be opaque in one thick coat, however I preferred two thinner coats. This was a great transition colour for me from summer to fall, especially since September has continued on with the summer temperatures.

As I mentioned this polish lasted me quite a long time ( I am still wearing it now!) Sure, it did chip a bit after a week, but I decided to chop my nails down a but which disguised most of the wear.

As mentioned above, with September I have taken on some new responsibilities and have not been able to do my nails as often. That being said, moving forward I may be posting once to twice a week, should I have anything to post at all! I do not intend on abandoning this blog any time soon, but life sometimes gets in the way.

August Favorites

This is an ongoing monthly post which highlights some of my very favorites from the month past.

Today I have my most favorite things from August. Check them out below.

Favorite Polish: China Glaze Celtic Sun
Defintely the brightest polish of my summer. I never thought I would like a yellow this much! Plus it really made my tan more prominent.

Favorite Book: Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer
I just finished reading this book last week, but I started it in August. A great read if you are interested in what is going on in industrial farms and where your food comes from. It is very well written and researched. To summarize the story, the author decides he wants to learn more about his food once his son is born so he can make the best food choices for his family.

Favorite Mani: Sprinkle Jelly Doughnut
This mani was made using Essie Marshmallow, China Glaze Can I Get An Untz Untz and China Glaze Let The Beat Drop. I love these neon glitters and hope they last me until next year so I can wear them again!... You know, without the glitter bleeding in to the base.

Favorite Fashion: Active wear from Old Navy
I just purchased these new fall active wear pieces from Old Navy and am OBSESSED! I first purchased these purple leaning burgundy (colour " Blackberry Jamming") capris for yoga and running. They have these great mesh panels that are not only great for hot yoga (preventing slipping in more difficult poses) but also super hot!

I loved the fit and styling of these so much I purchased the full length legging as well in black.

Until next month!

Revlon/Sinful Colors Haul

Happy Friday and last long weekend of summer! I can't believe it is already SEPTEMBER! I have already noticed the days getting shorter :( I shouldn't complain though, for the most part this summer was great!

A few weeks ago I purchased some new Revlon and Sinful Colors polishes:

From left to right, Sinful Colors Galax-sea, Lively in Lilac and Blue La La.

Galax-Sea is a predominately green glitter (hex and irregular shards) sprinkled with orange iridescent square glitter, which is hard to see in the swatches below. One coat is shown in the swatch below.

Livaly in Lilac looks to be mostly purple glitter, however I have a feeling it is silver or gold glitter which appears to be purple due to the purple jelly base. Two coats are shown in the swatch below.

Blue La La is a soft blue periwinkle creme. Nothing super special about this share just really pretty. I suspect it may be similar to China Glaze Boho Blues. Two coats are shown in the swatch below.

Next up are the Revlons, left to right, Revlon Brazilian Beach, Edgy and Apricot Nectar.

Brazilian Beach is a soft copper and gold glitter in a nude base. As with the other polishes from the Haute Rocks collection, it has a "pebbled texture" AKA dries to a matte finish. One impressive coat is shown in the swatch below.

Edgy is made up of varying sizes of hex glitter and fine bar glitter in a deep purple jelly base. I was initially excited about this one, but it was kind of a mess. Two thicker coats are shown in the swatch below, should probably use thinner coats with this one to avoid thick and clumpy glitter on the nail. The base is also so dark you can hardly see the glitter.

Apricot Nectar is a pretty peach creme. Great formula and slightly scented when dry. Two coats are shown below.

While swatching I layered a coat of Brazilian Beach over Apricot Nectar. I really love this combo!

Bio Seaweed Gel Review Part 3 - Three Week Update + Conclusion

Today I have the final post in the tree part series on Bio Seaweed Gel.

I'll start off with an update on my pedicure with Bio Seaweed Gel in Victoria. First of all, I absolutely LOVED wearing this shade on my toes. It's so summer and chic. I don't think I have ever worn a green on my toes before, but I will definitely be wearing this again!

Overall wear was good for just under a month, however as you can see in my after photos below, my left foot is missing some polish...

This was actually surprising! I have worn other shades of Bio Seaweed Gel in my toes with no chipping what-so-ever after the same amount of time. I know that I got a crack in one nail which chipped the polish and lead me to pick it off. Otherwise, as you can see on my right foot, the polish is still adhered fully to all nails. You can even see the growth. And the growth alone is what lead me to remove the gel. I was honestly thinking if just reapplying the gel to the two toes and keeping it longer!

Removal of gels is always the worst part for me, I don't like using acetone. I applied acetone to some cotton rounds and applied to each toe nail secured with tin foil. After 5-10 mins and removal of the foil and acetone soaked cotton, the polish is easily removed by using a orangewood stick to scrape away the gel. A file and buff may be needed to remove any further polish from the nail.

As for the gel patch I had in my middle finger to fix a break, this is what it looks like after three weeks.

I bet you can't even tell! It started to slowly pick away at the base after multiple removals of polish with Acetone free remover. After about a month it was easy to pick and peel off the nail. I just applied another gel coat over the patch to keep the nail strong while the break is still growing out. I love this polish for patching broken nails or reinforcing weak ones.

Overall I am very happy with these products that were sent for review. I almost exclusively own Bio Seaweed Gel UV polishes with the exception of some Sensationail polishes. Let me know if you would be interested in a comparison of the two, application, performance and removal wise.
