Confetti Snow!

I was inspired by the snow this past week for my current mani, I was thinking something soft and white. Sitting right there on my desk, in front of me at the time, was Funky Fingers Jawbreaker. Jawbreaker is a multi-glitter base up of various sizes suspended in a sheer milky base.

I layered Jawbreaker over a white base so I could get away with minimal coats for full coverage. My white base of choice is Sally Hansen Ghost, a basic white creme. It was not fully opaque in one coat but it gave me the base I needed. I then applied two coats of Jawbreaker over Ghost to add depth between the layers. The milky white base also made the shiny glitter appear softer, almost pastel in some cases.

I cleaned up the cuticle area and added a topcoat to seal the glitter and add some shine. I am loving this look right now, white nails, anything but plain or boring!

Happy Valentines!

In honor of Valentines this weekend I decided to remove my gel nails (honestly have been wearing them for a month!), chop down my nails (because I still don't know how to remove gels properly...) and paint them a festive, pink shade!

China Glaze Hello Gorgeous is made up of soft, rose pink holo glitter and builds up to full coverage very easily. I wish all my glitters were this dense! I only needed two coats what what you see in the photos. The formula was good, more on the thick side because of the glitter but very manageable, no thinner needed!

Hello Gorgeous drys quickly to a matte, gritty finish. It reminds me a bit of the Zoya Pixie Dusts so I decided to leave it matte for a day. On the second day I added a thin layer of regular topcoat, waited for that to dry, then added a final, thicker coat of Seche Vite to help with the grit and add some shine for that glitter to sparkle!

So far the polish has been wearing quite well. I did a lot of food prep today and no chips yet (fingers crossed). That is already outstanding for a glitter polish. It may have something to do with my shorter nails, but I'm not going to question it!

Colourful Collage

Today I have a mani from early January. It had just started to snow and I wanted a glittery mani. It didn't turn out exactly how I wanted it to, but I will try this technique again another time. I applied Finger Paints Colorful Collage to a cosmetic sponge and blotted in to each nail that was already coated in a think base of OPI I Theadora You.

I was initially going for full coverage with this but it didn't work out. I think I applied one to two coats of the Colorful Collage before adding a another coat of Sally Hansen Salon Open Mica Night, a sparse square holo glitter topper.

I topped the whole thing off with Seche Vite and called it a day. I want to try this look again with a holo or chrome base to fill in the glitter more. Otherwise, this was a super fun and sparkly glitter mani!
