Walkin' in Your Spider Webs

I did a quick mani refresh last week with Pinta, I wanted something quick and fun to change it up so I decided to stamp some Spiderwebs!

I did something similar to this last year around Halloween, I had stamped the Spider webs as a French tip and loved it! I used the image from Bundle Monster plate, BM13 and stamped with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Whirlwind White. It held me over for a few days before I switched it up.

Sparkle-tacular Haul-o-ween!

It is finally October, one of my favorite months with one of my favorite holidays, Halloween. I did some shopping over the weekend and was able to pick up some of the Halloween polishes I had been eyeing for a great price too :) I am pretty satisfied with what I got, I usually wait until after Halloween when they go on sale, so I no excuse not to wear these soon!

First stop was Sally's where is lived up some of the new Orly's, from left to right Monster Mash and Right Amount of Evil.

I wish Right Amount of Evil had a more Halloween name, something to do with pumpkins or something lol. Other than the colour of these polishes, they are pretty close in terms of formula. First of all they both have hex, and fine bar glitter sprinkled with a bunch of regular glitter. They are also both very dense in all glitter with what looks to be a buildable jelly base of either orange or green. The main difference I can shee is that Right Amount of Evil has a pink micro-shimmer in the base. Below are bottle Close ups!

These can also be worn over another colour for sure if you just want a little sparkle. 

Next from Sally's, the only China Glaze that interested me from this years collection, Glitter Goblin. I love the name! Glitter Goblin is composed of copper, silver and holo glitter in a clear base. I hope this one is buildable for full opacity, I love glitters like this :)

Next I was off to Ulta, they has a good promo on polish, buy 2 get 1 free! I didn't see anything I was particularly interested in, but I did pick up one, my first ever Piggy Polish! Another Halloween on, this one is called NAME. in the bottle it appears to be a gunmetal grey kind of foil with black/silver glitter and larger orange hex glitter. It is actually 100% glitter, made up of dark silver glitter in a clear base. This one is very dense and can definitely be built up to opacity.

I had a coupon but had to spend at least $10 to use it so also picked up this body lotion that was on sale and I am seriously obsessed with it! Its Ulta brand and called Cinnamon Swirl. It Smells So GOOD! Like fresh cinnamon buns, so delicious :)

So those are my picks for Halloween 2012, I'm so glad the polishes I wanted were available AND on sale. I actually had coupons but honestly, the Orly's were ridiculous price wise, even wit Sally's discount card!

Pinta

I have a gorgeous creme for fall today, Zoya Pinta. Pinta is a deep blue leaning purple creme that is super shiny and dark. It actually dries a bit darker than the bottle colour. I'm just glad it doesn't look black! Zoya's formula usually doesn't disappoint, but I found Pinta to be a little too thick and gloopy. I added thinner to the bottle immediately after application to one nail! Application was much easier from then on.

I'm sure if you applied one thick coat to each nail to would be fine, but I used one medium coat and another thinner one to even everything out. Since this polish is glossy on it's own Seche made it pure wet shine!

I feel like my application wasn't the greatest with this one, it's always harder to hide tiny imperfections with such a dark shade as well. I do love the colour though, so rich and dark. Im in the process of deciding how I can use Pinta as the base for some nail art :)

Flies Eyes Magnified!

I wanted to update my previous mani of China Glazes Rare and Radiant and decided to use Bundle Monster plate BM 214 to stamp with. I used the full nail pattern that appear to be a bunch of geometric flower like spots. I used my standard black stamping polish for stamping, Sally Hansen 10 Day No Chip in Blackberry.

The overall look makes me think of a fly's eyeballs! The duochrome beneath the stamp has the similar luminescence as a flies eye, although not as many colours are present.

A Chameleon of a Polish

Happy, Happy Friday!

The last few weeks have a blur! I am so busy I literally have had zero time for myself let alone my nails. Sunday I actually had some time to myself and decided I wanted to wear another duochrome for re last week in September. I have such a large array, but decided on one of the newest additions to my collection, Rare and Radiant.

As I'm sure you already know, this is one of the many Chanel Peridot dupes. The base is a yellow/gold and the colour shifts between green and teal. I only needed two coats to reach opacity.

In the sun it is super sparkly and in the shade or indirect lighting is appears to be a metallic chrome, like melted metal! I did see some slight brush stroke marks but it didn't bug me too much. I know there are some methods out there on how to avoid them, I will have to try it out when I have more time.

The duochrome on this polish is petty prominent and I think it is definitely one of the stand out polishes of China Glaze's Bohemian collection. For one it doesn't take too many coats to reach opacity (two coats is usually the norm for me) and secondly it had a pretty noticeable shift in colour which I know some of the other polishes in the collection were lacking.

More fall nails!

Today I have a fall polish from last year, I just had to have it right away and it just ended up stashed in a drawer since then. I have really been inspired by fall colours for my polishes and have been really feeling the duochromes that have been coming out this year. Rococo a Go-Go is from Orly's Mineral FX line and it so awesome! I would say the main shade in this polish is purple, but in some lighting it is way more of an amber/wine. Very jewel toned.

The finish is foily, very flecky and similar to the polishes from the preppie years Cosmic FX line (think Space Cadet, one of my all time FAVORITE POLISHES! Have a look at the photos.

Similar to Space Cadet the shimmer flashes many shades depending on your lighting source, they range from gold to orange. It so rich! I could have used one thick coat, but applied one medium and one light coat.

The Layering Continues! Glitter Sandwich

Happy Friday!! I cannot wait for the weekend to start. So a random thought popped in my head the other night before I headed to bed and I knew I must try it. I had thought to myself I wonder how a layer of blue jelly polish would look over my Dive Bar, Meteor Shower concoction...

I didn't think, I just did it! And I am soooo glad :) I applied a thin layer of Revlon's Royal and this manicure just came to life. The glitter looked like crushed ice trapped between the layers of polish. This has got to be one of my favorite layering experiments ever!
