Happy, Happy Friday! I loved Layla Mercury Twilight so much I didn't want to remove it, even though I was getting some major tip wear. I decided to do some stamping, I haven't done that in a while. I chose Bundle Monster plate BM-301, a gradient-like splatter, perfect to cover up my chipping tips!
I used my go to black stamping polish, and old school Sally Hansen 10 Day No Chip in Blackberry.
I love the look, but adding topcoat kind of dulled the holo effect. Still pretty though :)
I have a question about the quality of nail polish. I saw a color I liked near the Walgreen check out line. Loved the color but only lasted a day. Is that a sign of cheap polish? What brands would you buy if you are being frugal?
ReplyDeleteHi~ Saw this comment so I wanted to leave my tidbit. I hope you don't mind.
DeleteNot always~ I mean OPI and Essie tend to chip on me after a day as well. I find that one of the biggest things that helps is a really good top coat. I know a lot of people love Seche Vite, but personally am liking the Gelous (found at Sally Beauty) as a top coat.
One thing you do need to be careful about cheaper polish, like dollar store brands, is the the ingredients in it. But some brands may surprise you, so doesn't hurt to try.
I agree with rasilla. Since I'm unsure of what brand you purchased I cannot comment on the quality, however I find that the higher end brands due tend to last longer on me, specifically, OPI and Zoya.
DeleteDepending n the brand you purchased it may also be made up of different ingredients the other brands you have tried before. What this polish a neon? I love China glaze, especially their latest summer offering, but the neons are chipping on me like crazy! just have to be extra carful with wrapping my tips.
That is another thing, application! Application and technique can also make a difference in wear time.
Thanks for your feedback everyone.
DeleteJealous! That stamp doesn't come out cleanly for me -__-
ReplyDeleteI thought maybe my plate wasn't deep enough to hold the polish. Will have to try again cause I like how this looks~
try again, my first attempt didn't go to well either, the best advice I can offer is to be very gentle within scraping and stamp with a light touch to transfer the polish on the stamper
