Mysterious Duochrome - Pic Heavy!

Orly's Mysterious Curse is apart of the Dark Shadows collection that came out around the release of the movie in May. I love Tim Burton, Danny Elfman and Johnny Depp so I just had to see it. The movie itself was just okay but I still enjoyed it. The collection didn't really wow me like I hoped it would but Mysterious Curse just popped when I saw it in person and it happened to be on sale so I decided to give it a try.

I would describe the polish as a deep, blackened plum with a flash of electric blue shimmer, this is what I had originally seen in the bottle when I purchased it. What I didn't realize is that the shimmer is actually a duochrome and flashes between electric blue and a magenta/purple. It almost reminds me of Sally Hansen Nail Prism Garnet Lapis, without the full range of colour shift of course, Garnet Lapis is a multichrome.

this is my FAVE photo :)
I found the formula to be thin on this one, the first coat was pretty sheer and uneven but the second coat evened out just fine. Two coats can add up to full opacity easily but my preference was three coats, the last one was very thin.

This one is really a beauty and I didn't even realize it when I had originally purchased it. The duochrome adds so much depth and dimension which is heightened even more so with a nice glossy top coat! I used Seche Vite as I normally do, but I have a feeling this polish would take a while to dry all in it's own, something about the thin formula.

That being said I bumped a nail or two which is unlike me right after application! It was easy to smooth out and correct and the top coat evened it out pretty well.

You really have to see this one in person on the nail to really appreciate it, I looooovee it!
