Throw Back Tuesday - Sally Hansen Nail Prisms (Pic heavy)

 Is throwback Tuesday even a thing? Whatever, doing it anyways!

I'm starting to feel the fall vibes, despite the weather feeling more like late spring than early fall! But hey, I'm not complaining! I had a strong craving for a summer-y duochrome and ended up in my Sally Hansen drawer. I pulled out a few Nail Prisms I have yet to try and decided on Ruby Saphire.

 

This violet chameleon is a part of the long ago, and sought after, Nail Prisms collection composed of bad ass holos and vivid shifting duochromes. That being said, this polish is defiantly made of not so good chemicals, it's pretty evident from the first whiff of the open bottle! Although this polish is still usable, the formula in this one I particular is super thin and on the sheer side. It also takes FOREVER to dry!

How did I deal with it and make it look beautiful on my nails without putting a lot of time and effort into my nails? Simple, a black base coat. One coat of Ruby Saphire overtop the base of Sally Hansen Extreme Wear in Black Out and a quick dry topcoat makes everything better.

What colours flash in this polish? Indigo, purple, pink, red and orange!

The black base makes this shade look super vampy, but I am digging it! I'm usually way nervous pulling out my prisms because I know they can be finicky. But just look at that finish!

Multi-tonal Stripes

Today I have a refresh with the gorgous Amber Ruby Prism I posted on Monday. I wanted something quick and easy, so I grabed my striping brush and black polish and started striping. I did something similar to this last year around halloween with orange and black. This mani, however, is a little more subtle. I like it.

The stripes look as if they separate the shift from one colour to the next. The shade changes depending on your lighting, my favorite look with this was when the polish looked a coppery orange colour :) Very Halloween.

Two last shots, I had to get this on camera! When submerged in water you can really see all the colours that are jam packed in to this polish. Pretty cool :)

Autumn In a Bottle - Nail Prisms

As stated in previous posts, I'd like to make all my October posts Halloween and Fall inspired 100%. I have so many new Halloween themed polishes and nail art ideas that I cant wait to try out this year! Since Halloween is still a while away, nothin' too crazy today, just a gorgeous fall multi-chrome :)

I really love Sally Hansen's Nail Prism in Amber Ruby more than I thought. In the bottle it is 100% awesome, but didn't know how well it would translate on the nail. The base looks like a deep red/burgundy,usually I'm not too crazy about red shades.

 

 

But wow, this is just... wow. From what I can see on the nail, there is burgundy, orange, copper, bronze, yellow/gold, green and the slightest bit of a grayed out blue. These nails are pure autumn in the form of  changing leaves.

I layered 1 coat over a previous mani of China Glaze's Midtown Magic, I have to save this goodness up! I'm glad 1 coat gave me even coverage, I finished it off with 1 coat of Seche Vite. Not only did it provide brilliant gloss, but dried this polish in to time. I always have issues with my Prisms drying, this is the first time I didn't get sheet marks. I currently have 1 bottle of this on hold for someone from the stash I was selling, but I may just keep it as a backup for myself if the deal falls through :)

Purple Diamond Prism

I do not know what is up with my camera and capturing holos, it just sucks at it! Take for instance this pretty purple Sally Hansom Prism, Purple Diamond. It has a crazy beautiful linear holo, but it is just super hard to capture.

I haven't been able to find this one around on other blogs, only one. There is the other "limited edition" version in the round bottles that were supposedly popping up in Dollar Tree's not too long ago in the states, but those were hardly holographic lol.

In the bottle Prurple Diamond is a straight up deep purple holographic, the holo glitter in this is not as fine as China Glaze's OMG's, but it adds a lot more shimmery goodness!

I applied a good three coats, as the formula is thin with all of the Prisms, it did apply very well though. It looked a bit lighter on the nail, especially in low lighting or overcast daylight. But you can definitely see the prismatic effect very well indoors and out with the right lighting!

My one complaint is dry time, why does something so pretty have to take forever to dry :( I didn't want to use Seche Vite because I thought it would add too much gloss and take away the holographic effect.

Next time I use one of my Prisms, preferably a duo-chrome I will definitely use some Seche Vite and hope it dries quickly :) Do you have any tips for getting slow drying polishes to dry faster?

So here it is, my mother load of a Sally Hansen's Prims sale! You don't even know how hard I searched to find you guys these polishes. I should have taken photos of my hands, searching through bins, chipping nail polish on my nails. Leaking nail polish all over my hands, I looked like a crazy person!

I worked so hard to research the names of these polishes, take the right photos and attempt swatches. Due to lack of sun and/or polishes not photographing correctly, I have resorted to providing you with links to other blogs with the swatches I think are best representations of the polishes.

Alrighty, so this is how this is going to work. Below I have listed the polishes I currently have in my possession and how many of each I own. Prices and descriptions with links to swatches are posted with the polishes.

Shipping will be determined by location. Once you send me an email (to enthuseme@hotmail.com, subject line "Nail Prisms") with the polishes you would like and your location/address. I will then send you back an email to confirm your purchase and provide you with a total price including shipping. I think this will ensure the most accurate pricing and keep the shipping costs as low as possible for you. If you live in Toronto or are going to be in the Toronto area soon, I am willing to meet up with you for free :) Obviously cash for the polish, but you know what I mean. I never understood how some people charge to meet up to buy something. Otherwise, all payments must be made through PayPal. I will disclose my PayPal information once the polishes are confirmed for purchase.

Once you have made your payment I will ship out the polishes, simple as that!

I will definitely try to send some extras with your package, I have some Maybeline discontinued flakie Coloramas (with purchase of polish 9+) and nail art stickers, I'd possibly even insert some other treats and candy depending on how much room there is in the package. I will automatically include an extra polish for those who purchase the higher priced items, it will be a surprise when you get it ;)

Yes... these are all the same polish! Beautiful, isn't it, very similar to Turquoise Opal, but not as green.

Colour Description: Both are very similar, that is why I listed them together. Both have a thin orange base with colour shifts between pink and orange. The think that really makes this polish special is the colour shift in the sparkle between green, gold and turquoise!

Colour Description: Silver scattered linear holographic. Similar to the China Glaze Kaleidoscope collection. Photos of this polish do not do it justice at all, it is very prismatic and contains a linear holographic effect. It is almost identical to this polish. I kept a couple backups for myself for frankening and layering. I wish you guys could see this one in person, so pretty.
