Happy Valentines!

Happy Friday and happy Valentines day! Whether you celebrate with a loved one, family, friends or not at all, I hope you have a great day! My boyfriend and I plan on staying in tonight, I have a little something planned for dinner, but we'll we'll probably go out on Saturday so we don't have to rush around Friday night, although plans are still up in the air.

Today I have a simple valentine themed mani I freehanded on a base of my last mani, Sinful Colors Cream Soda. You can really see the spritz of silver shimmer better in these photos if you zoom in! I applied a medium/thick coat of glitter, Essie Jazzy Jubilant, to the ring fingers. It includes various coloured hex glitter and smaller red glitter. On the rest of the nails I freehanded a polka dot heart pattern.

I used Sally Hansen Ceramic Wear in White Ghost and my smallest dotting tool for the pattern. I started out by plotting out the pattern with the dotting tool on the nail. Then I made every other dot a heart, still using the smallest dotter. I wanted the pattern to look delicate and girly. I really like the final result :)

Blue Valentine

Today I have a heart filled mani refresh! I loved wearing Water You Waiting For on it's own but wanted to change it up a bit ad fill my craving for heart nails. I used Red Angel plate RA-114 which is a full nail heart pattern. It stamped pretty well considering I have been having issues with my Red Angel plates. I decided to leave my ring fingers without any design, kind of a reverse accent nail thing going on here.

 

 

 

Very valentines inspired with blue in place of girly pinks and reds. I like the contrast. The polish I used for stamping is Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Whirlwind White, my go to white stamping polish :)

Love is in the Air!

So I have been feeling heart patterns and designs lately, I hadn't done any since this mani, but it's weird since I never really think to do heart manis in general. Maybe from now until February 14th I will ensure any nail art I do has hearts in it! What do you think about hearts, yay or nay?

I decided to freehand a heart pattern on each nail. As a base I used my previous mani of Zoya Rica. For the hearts I used Sally Hanson Salon (square bottle), Hearts on Fire which is a bright red jelly. I used a dotting tool to draw out each heart and created a pattern with them on each nail. It is not as hard or time consuming as one would think, the only challenge was working with my non-dominant hand, but once I did a few nails it got a lot easier.

 

This mani was super hard to capture on camera as you can see in the photo directly above, the similar shades and jelly finish of the red polish were freaking my camera out! I personally like the contrast between the red hearts and gold shimmer base in Rica. I was originally just going to apply the hearts to my ring and thumb fingers like I did last year here, but since the shades of polish were similar I decided to do all the nails instead since the colour choice made the overall design mote subtle.

Happy Valentines Day! My Valentines mani today is actually a refresh with yesterdays polish, Moonlight. For this simple and fun manicure I created from red hearts freehand on my ring finger and thumb. To do this I dipped a dotting tool in to my red polish and drew small "v"'s. The red polish is Sally Hanson Salon (square bottle), Hearts On Fire. Such a perfect name right!? This is a deep red jelly.

To finish the mani off I applied one coat of China Glaze's White Cap to all of my nails and I was done! Doing my right hand was a bit challenging, but I think it came out pretty good! Plus I don;t think it's too overbearing, only 2 fingers per nail is not so over the top.

I wore this mani for a a while, I added the hearts and White Cap on Wednesday and it still looks great!

Past Manicures - Absolutly Alice

I am a huge Tim Burton fan, have been for a loooong time, so when i heard that he was coming out with his own adaptation i could not wait! I was literally counting down the days.

I ended up going to see the movie after opening day in Imax 3-D which was pretty cool, in celebration of the release I created some Alice nails with the help of OPI's Absolutly Alice. This is the only colour I own from the 4 piece collection which I'm sure every one knows includes 2 reds and the highly coveted schizophrenia glitter - Mad as a hatter. Mad as a hatter did interest me, but I was not crazy about it. Even if i did want it, it sold out pretty quick.

I know you have probably seen this colour a million times, so when i wore it i wanted to make it special:

For these nails I used:

• Base - random Sally Hansen blue, one coat
• OPI AA - 2 coats
• Accent nail design- konad zebra design with konad special polish in white
• Accent nail rhinestone - heart from dollarama rhinestones (originally was a lavender colour), i used china glaze ruby pumps to paint over the original colour.
  

I wanted the "zebra" print to kinda of symbolize the kinda of warp zone Alice enters in to. The red hart is obviously for the red queen. I was pretty happy with the end result :)
