Bio Seaweed Gel, Uptown Lights - Collection and Review Part 1

Bio Seaweed Gel sent me some polishes from their latest Uptown Lights collection for review. I was lucky enough to pick two shades from the collection of fifteen polishes.

Below are the colours, from left to right, top to bottom;
Row one: Charlottetown, Edmonton, Fredericton, Halifax, Iqaluit
Row two: Montreal, Ottawa, Quebec City, Regina, St. John's
Row three: Toronto, Victoria, Whitehorse, Winnipeg and Yellowknife.

I love how they incorporate their Canadian roots in to the brand. If you couldn't already tell, all polishes are named after various cities in Canada! The two polishes I chose were Victoria and St. John's. I kind of regret not getting Toronto (the light blue seen on the model's hand above), but I had a feeling that I had something similar.

This is an interesting collection for summer, some brights, neutrals and dusty taupes. I received the following, one No-Wipe Top Coat, Unity All-In-One Soak-Off Gel Polish, 261 Victoria and Unity All-In-One Soak-Off Gel Polish, 259 St. John's.

Victoria is a pastel, on the verge of being neon, lime green. This is my favorite out of the two!
St. John's is a deep and dusty cornflower blue.

What I noticed about these gels,when compared to the other Bio Seaweed Gels in my collection, is that they do not produce a sticky layer after curing, this was a welcome surprise! They both dry super glossy after one minute of LED UV curing.

I found the formula on each polish to be thick, however, St. John's was thicker than Victoria. Stay tuned for more information on application, usage and wear of the products I received in upcoming posts!

Bohemian Vibes

Happy Friday and happy May!

Spring has FINALLY sprung this week, and I hope it is here for keeps. Today I have the perfect shade for the weather from China Glaze's spring offering, Road Trip. I think this polish is my favorite so far out of the set I purchased. 

Boho Blues is a bright periwinkle creme. Although this is a more muted shade, it was one of the most saturated in the set, on the nail it was pretty bright for a spring shade. In various lighting it can appear slightly different, sometimes more muted or brighter and sometimes pulling more purple. Overall I really love this shade!

The formula was great, it was a little bit streaky at one coat but built up perfectly at two coats. It wore fantastically with minimal wear until I started picking at it... for a full week!

  

I am excited to try out the rest of the set from this collection, but was disappointed with how sheer the others were on my swatch wheel. I guess I'll have to try them out on my nails to know how they rate for sure.

Shorts Weather

Good Morning! I hope the weather was as good where you live as it was for me over the weekend. Sure, it was a bit rainy and overcast, but for the most part it was pleasant and spring-like :) I was certainly in the mood for another spring bright on my nails, today I choose a bottle I picked up recently, Essie Boxer Shorts.

Boxer Shorts is a muted yet bright periwinkle creme, in different lighting it can appear more, blue or purple. sometimes even a bit grey! In the bottle it looks a bit lighter but on the nail it is quite a saturated shade. I only needed two coats for opacity, the first coat applied pretty well, but the second coat evened everything out. I did notice the longer I had the bottle open the more it thickened up, I'm not sureif it was because I had my window open and fan on or just due to the natural formulation of the polish. This wasn't a big deal, thinner is my best friend when I get any thickening issue :)

I think I may use this as a base for some Easter inspired nail art later in the week!
