Black Crackle and Prismatic Sparkle

Hello ladies,

today I have another crackle mani to share, it's actually a refresh from the lovely China Glaze, High Def from the Tronica collection. Although I loved this polish on its own, I just had to try out my new crackles :)

I chose Black Mesh to go over top. Although I had tested this crackle over many fake nails to play around with different effects, when it came to my own nails I felt like the application was completely new! I wanted to the crackle to appear more linear and thin, so for my first nail, left pinky, I applied 1 thin coat.

As you can see in the photos, this coat was a little too thin, so for the next nail I applied a thicker coat, and as you could imagine I got a bolder crackle. Overall, I love the look of a metallic or silvery/glittery polish under the black crackle, it really pops, I just wish I had gotten the crackle to apply more in the pattern I had hoped it to be.

One thing that I find is that the finish of the polish you are painting over with the crackle effects the overall pattern. For example, over a smother polish a more linear pattern is produced, where as on a more gritty, glitter polish the crackle can come out completely different.

I would suggest test painting a fake nail with the base you want to use and try the crackle over it before applying to your nail so you know what your going to get.

I have not tried any other application (blobbing, zig-zags, etc) on my own nails yet, but I think I will use the zig-zag or criss cross method on my next crackle mani. I tried this method on a fake nail and the pattern came out looking very similar to a cheetah pattern! I have also seen it look like a more floral pattern, so depending on which colour crackle you use and the base polish will effect the pattern you get.

I Found Some Halo!

Today I have one of the two polishes I purchased from China Glazes LE Tronica collection. I sooooo regret not getting Laser Lime when I had the chance, now it will probably be impossible to find for a decent price. I picked up my Tronica's at Sally's at the end of February on sale for $3.99 which is awesome!

When I first heard about this collection I was super excited because I didn't get a chance to purchase any of the OMG polishes when they were still around. I was then disappointed when I heard by other bloggers that these were a let down, as the prismatic particles were not as strong when compared to the polishes in the OMG collection. I still liked some of the colours so I decided to pick up Techno Teal and High Def.

I applied High Def on the weekend, the sun was literally blinding in Toronto, so I figured this would be the perfect chance to see the prismatic polish in action. I was surprised in the best way! Yes, the polish does not have a linear "halo" like the OMG polishes, BUT, I really like the effect this polish has, its like a subtle halo with amazing prismatic particles bouncing off the light. I really love it.

These photos honestly do not do this polish justice, the best photos I could get were in my boyfriends car! lol I always seem to get the best pictures in there for some reason! In the other photos you can see mostly scattered glitter particles, but in the car photos you can see the tiniest bit of a linear effect, it's sooooo cool! Could not stop looking at my nails whenever the sun was out this weekend. The car photos are below.

I can even see the light reflecting particles at work! I have a pot light right over my head and the polish catches the light in one of the best ways possible, super pretty.

The actual shade of the polish is a mix between a light cornflower blue, and in some lighting it could even look like a light, blue toned purple.

This was definitely worth it for me to purchase, I can't wait to try Techno Teal and am hoping I can come across Laser Lime in the near future.

Sally Hansen Nail Prisms - Halo Stamping :)

Hello ladies,

I actually wanted to post this mani on Friday, but blogger wasn't letting me upload my photos :( Oh well, I have it now. I was playing around with my BM plates and Sally Hansen Nail pPrisms in diamond (pure white halo, think china Glazes OMG). Although the Nail Prisms line is pretty sheer, if used quick enough it will work for a subtle blingy Konad :)

I decided to go with a swirly almost water marble design over my past mani of American Apparel, Peacock. I could not get this to photograph correctly at all! Please enlarge the photos to see the halo and design more clearly. For the first and last pictures I had to use my desk lamp to capture the halo and deign.

As you can see below with the flash, it is hard to capture the beauty of the halo pattern.

For the most part I was just playing around and decided to change the mani up right after these photos. As you can see more clearly in the photo below, I double stamped some nails and it was obvious enough to bug me lol.

It does look super cool though, I will try something similar again in the spring or summer when I can actually enjoy the halo in the sun.

OPI - My Private Jet

I hope you are all still with me! Not too many comments on the Perfect Formula polishes, I hope you liked the reviews.

On to today's polish which kicks soooo much ass, OPI, My Private Jet. You all know how I won this and I am so glad that I did. I had been wanting this colour for a while now, and although it is not the original formula is it still awesome. All images are clickable and super large :)

I took a bunch of pictures to try and show off the awesome halo glitter, but I still feel like these pictures don't do the polish justice.

I applied 2 coats of MPJ over 1 coat of my china glaze strong adhesion base coat, and finished it off with one coat of Nailene Acrylic Strong top coat.

As you can tell from the pictures, its a subtle sparkle indoors (almost looks like a silver glitter) but it really shines in the sun, it is super duper blingy-sparkly!

I fauxnaded a little bow (also from my winnings) on my pinky nails with one of my Sally Hansen chromes ^_^ so cute!

Sally Hansen Nail Prism Diamond - Fun with Holos!

Today I have for you one of my many Nails Prisms :) I love these little guys, some of them are holographic and some are crazy duo-chromes, similar to the new Sally Hansen HD's

Today I have a little experiment I did with Sally Hansen Nail Prism's Diamond and some of the newer Sally Hansen Ultra HDs. (the Ultra HD's are apart of the newer line of HD's, basically more shimmery and pretty!)

Below is one of my Nail Prism holos, Diamond.

Don't let the photo fool you, this polish is pure holo in the right light.
I took the picture at night so all I had was the flash form my camera.

I came up with the idea for this experiment because I long for a bunch of the China Glaze OMG polishes that are no longer in production.

Anyways, I wanted to see what would happen when I layered a holo polish with a sheer coloured duo-chrome polish. Would the holo shine though the coloured polish? Would the coloured polish show through the holo?

I used these Sally Hansen Ultra HD's, left to right, Laser and Spectrum. I currently have DVD on my nails, pure love!! Expect to see a swatch of that shade soon.

Before I show you my layering expariment, I just wanted to let you ladies know that these polishes are sooooo cool! They are thin, DVD took 4-5 coats, but I wanted to see how far I could build it up. Next time I will layer over another polish... which is another post on its own for how cool that is! lol, but the outcome is so worth it. I wish I got more when they were on sale ( I got them for $2.99 CAD,) I love my deals :)

The shimmery duo chrome in the HD's make the halo so sparkly :) I wish I had gotten some photos in direct sunlight, the holo would be BLINDING!

Sally Hansen Nail Prism - Coral Amber

Hi Ladies,

Today I have one of my many Sally Hansen Nail Prisims for you. Believe it or not this is the first holographic one I have tried, I know, crazy right?!

The colour is coral amber and I would describe it as a pinkish, redish, sparkly polish with the smallest bit or orange (in certain lights). I kind of wish this was more coral, orange and halo. The halo is very faint, not like some of the others and it isn't as duochromy either. I was kind of disappointed in this one ... but that was before I saw it in direct sunlight! wow, it really shines.

Over all application was excellent, very smooth and even. Hardly any cleanup was needed. Dry time was just okay, I did my nails about an hour before bed, even with a quick dry serum on top, they still smudged a bit (which I fixed before I went to work yesterday and took the pics! By the way, super hard to get this colour to translate in a picture, l though the halo is faint IRL, it is way more visible in person that in the photos

So what do you think of this prism, yay or nay?

* On a side note, I am trying out some new photography styles and different ways of uploading my pictures. Any comments? Do you prefer the new style of photos or old?
