Sally Hanson, Nail Prisms

Hey ladies,

Today I have a Nail Prism for you. I have been hearing a lot about them lately, it seems they are making a come back in dollar stores in the States. I had originally purchased mine this year at the discontinued cosmetics warehouse I always talk about. I kept going back every so often to build up my collection, I have a pretty large collection of prisms now thanks to that place, all for 50 cents each :)

Anyways, moving on, this polish is almost impossible to photograph properly! there is so much going on in this colour it is nuts! This nail prims, by the way, is called Turquoise Opal. you have to click on all the photos to see the colours up close.

The above photos were taken with my camera flash and you can see the green turquoise shimmer. For the most part I saw purple/blue/green. Because of daylight savings time it is hard for me to capture polishes like this in natural sunlight, and unfortunately I was not wearing this polish on the weekend so I do not have natural sunlight photos :(

I did, however get some decent pictures without the flash, in these picture you can definitely see the many colours little bottle of polish has.

The pictures above remind me of space cadet a bit, but those 2 polishes are totally different, same idea with the mutichrome though.

These last 2 photos remind me of galaxy girl, this polish literally has a rainbow of colours in the bottle ;)

So I'm sure the photos speak for themselves for the pros of this polish .... now on to the cons:

- polish is super thin, I layered it over a medium blue and I'm pretty sure I used 3 or 4 coats to reach full opacity
- the polish bubbled, this is probably due to all the coats and my impatience in between coats lol
- takes a while to dry, but again this may be due to all the coats of polish.

What I will do next time I wear a nail prism is layer it over black or a really dark base colour so I hopefully will not have to use so many coats to reach opacity.

On the bubbles note, I find that a lot of my older Sally Hansen's bubble on me. I think I have to be a little more careful with them in the future, applying thinner coats and allowing time to dry in between. Does this happen to you too?

OPI - My Private Jet

Hey Ladies,

I hope you are all still with me! Not too many comments on the Perfect Formula polishes, I hope you liked the reviews.

On to today's polish which kicks soooo much ass, OPI, My Private Jet. You all know how I won this and I am so glad that I did. I had been wanting this colour for a while now, and although it is not the original formula is it still awesome. All images are clickable and super large :)

I took a bunch of pictures to try and show off the awesome halo glitter, but I still feel like these pictures don't do the polish justice.

I applied 2 coats of MPJ over 1 coat of my china glaze strong adhesion base coat, and finished it off with one coat of Nailene Acrylic Strong top coat.

As you can tell from the pictures, its a subtle sparkle indoors (almost looks like a silver glitter) but it really shines in the sun, it is super duper blingy-sparkly!

I fauxnaded a little bow (also from my winnings) on my pinky nails with one of my Sally Hansen chromes ^_^ so cute!

The Perfect Formula Review Part 3 - Avant Gray

Hey ladies,

Today I have the final colour from The Perfect Formula/ Perfect Color, today's colour is Avant Gray.

This polish was a little thinner then the previous 2 I swatched. The picture shows only 2 coats, I should have added a third for full coverage but I wanted to show you the comparison of all 3 colours with 2 coats . I want to say this one is a cream, but it is a little thin.

All in all it still applied very well, and although I don't have any grays in my stash (I frankened one once), I am very happy with this one, this colour is the perfect gray for me. I have always picked up China Glazes Recycle and then put it down again when I'm at Sally's. I feel like there is a brown undertone in it that I don't really like. I feel like Avent Grey is is the best balance of white and black for me.

Overall I really like these colours, pigmentation is great, colours are original, and the brush surprised me in a good way!

Speaking of surprises, the other day I got another package in the mail from The Perfect Formula with some more goodies to review and swatch for you guys! I will be posting these items next week, just a warning, they are super cute :)

Perfect Formula Review Part 2 - Futurist

Hello ladies,

Today I have another colour from The Perfect Formula/ Perfect Color. The second colour I have is Futurist, a nice pale dusty lavender that I am in love with!

Purples always go very well with my skin tone, so this one made me happy :) It is a little dustier in real life and not as bright, it's so perfect for fall.

This polish applied the same as the previous polish. Only 2 coats were needed and no clean up was required, the brush is awesome! I would consider this polish more of a jelly, it didn't apply as opaque as pop art, but the pigment is still there. I like the fact that it's a jelly also, look at that shine, no topcoat applied!

On a side note, one thing I left out of the previous post is that all of the Perfect Color polishes are big 3 free :)

I don't think I have anything else to say about this polish, it is great, I will definitely be wearing this colour as a full mani very soon.

Perfect Formula Review Part 1 - Pop Art

Hello ladies,

This week I have some swatches from a new to me polish company called The Perfect Formula.

The Perfect Formula started out selling products to strengthen and grow the nails, they have now created a new line of polish; The Perfect Color. They currently have a base line of 8 pink, red, and neutral shades plus two seasonal collections for this past Summer and Fall.

Below are the colours they sent me for review from their fall collection.

Aren't the bottles and packaging cute?! I love how they have their seal on all their products and how everything is packed so nicely.

The packaging includes the directions and ingredients on the back and what the perfect colour is on the side pannel;

Perfect Color is formulated with "Instant Strength Technology" to give immediate instant strength and thickness to the nail. The custom designed brush, along with the perfectly pigmented polish, ensures a smooth and even application on the nail every time.

The directions insist on using the Perfect Formula gel coat as a base followed by the colour, then 1 coat of My Favorite Top Coat. Unfortunately, these were not supplied so I'm not sure if they add any thickness or protection to the nail when combined with the polish.

The amount of polish you get is more than OPI and just under the amount of a bottle of Orly, 17ml. The bottle is quite deceiving though, because it is short and chubby.

On to today's swatch, Pop Art.

This intensely pigmented forest green has a hint of blue. Only two coats were needed for opacity and it dried super quick! No clean up or top coat was applied for the photo.

The formula was great to work with, not too thick and not too thin. This particular colour is a cream and it applied perfectly!

The brush was nice too, below I have a comparison between The Perfect Colour brush (left) and the OPI Pro Wide brush (right).

Over all I was very impressed with this polish. My sister is currently testing out this shade for me to see how it wears with a basic bottom and topcoat. So far she has been wearing this for 2 days and it still looks great.

Another thing to note about this colour is since it is so pigmented, it works great for Konading/ faunading! Such an awesome bonus :)

Hey Ladies!

You would not believe the week I've had, super busy at work and running around to prepare some stuff for my boyfriend's b-day on the weekend :)

Unfortunately, haven't had time for my nails and even if I did, when I wake up for work it's dark, when I get home from work it's darker! So no natural light photography. I don't swatch so usually whatever I am wearing on the weekend gets the best pictures because I actually have the time to take pictures in natural light! Oh well, guess I have to start getting creative!

Anyways, this is way overdue but I would love to thank Anita from A Splash of Serendipity for throwing a great giveaway that I won :) I received my prize in the mail on Monday and was super excited to open it.

My winnings consisted of :
- 2 polishes, OPI ( my private jet!, not sure what version but still super awesome!) and NYX
- Halloween nail stickers which I will put to good use next year
- fauxnad image plate (loooove the bows and stars!)
- and purple eyeshadow (not pictured)


She also threw in a nail brush which has awesome thick bristles and toe separators! I really needed some new ones, I lost one of the others I own. Included in my little package was a sweet note also so thanks again Anita, you made my day :)

I am currently wearing My Private Jet and will post soon. By looking at the picture do you know what version it may be? On my nails it looks gray/brownish with holographic glitter, I don't think it's the original. Hopefully when I post my pics they will help. Let me know if you know :)

Last Halloween mani

Hey Ladies,

I had so many ideas and so little time to create my Halloween themed manis. Unfortunately I didn't get all of the ones I had thought of doing done, but I do have one last one to share with you today.

The colour used is China Glaze Secret Peri-wink-le, a light cornflower blue. I used 2 coats of secret peri-wink-le and 2 coats of (Wet n' Wild) Fantasy Makers glow-in-the-dark topcoat. The one thing I liked about this top coat (other than it glows in the dark!) is that it gives this hazy almost foggy look to the polish. This can be good or bad depending on what you want your polish to look like.

This was good for me, it was why I specifically wore this glow-in-the-dark polish, I have another that is clear once applied. This polish also lightened the colour of Secret Peri-wink-le and gave the polish a satin-like finish.

I love this bottle! I wish I had found more of these, I stumbled across this polish one day at Zellers, it was the last and only one and it was half off! I had been wanting this one for some time (partly because of the bottle), I'm loving the glow it has in the dark.

I finished off the look with a spider web fauxnad (bundle monster plate) on the ring fingers for a subtle Halloween look.

I hope to show a comparison between this glow-in-the-dark polish and the other I have once I figure out how to get my camera to photograph it!

One last picture for you guys, it's my Halloween cat Smokey, she was chilling with us yesterday as we carved the pumpkins :)
