Valentines Nails

I kept it simple and sweet this Valentines on my nails. I was feeling like something girly and spring-like, even though it is still FREEZING and snowy out... Spring cannot come soon enough for me!

I decided on a bright pastel pink, China Glaze Spring in my Step. It was a little finicky formula wise, but a good two coats provided me with even enough coverage for a glitter topper. I chose an awesome glitter topper for the occasion, Sinful Colors Love Sprinkles which is a mixture of matte white glitter and pastel pink glitter of various sizes in a clear base. sprinkled throughout are some matte white glitter hearts.

I was hoping that Love Sprinkles would be a dense glitter topper, but it had a thicker clear base that didn't allow for much glitter on the brush. To remedy this I added some thinner to the polish and stored the bottle upside down so the glitter would float to the top of the bottle. This helped a bit, but I had to fish around a little to get those cute heart shaped glitters on the nail.

Although it did not apply as great as other Sinful Color polishes I own, it definitely was no the worst! Overall I am happy with the dainty feminine look of this mani.

Happy Valentines!

Happy Friday and happy Valentines day! Whether you celebrate with a loved one, family, friends or not at all, I hope you have a great day! My boyfriend and I plan on staying in tonight, I have a little something planned for dinner, but we'll we'll probably go out on Saturday so we don't have to rush around Friday night, although plans are still up in the air.

Today I have a simple valentine themed mani I freehanded on a base of my last mani, Sinful Colors Cream Soda. You can really see the spritz of silver shimmer better in these photos if you zoom in! I applied a medium/thick coat of glitter, Essie Jazzy Jubilant, to the ring fingers. It includes various coloured hex glitter and smaller red glitter. On the rest of the nails I freehanded a polka dot heart pattern.

I used Sally Hansen Ceramic Wear in White Ghost and my smallest dotting tool for the pattern. I started out by plotting out the pattern with the dotting tool on the nail. Then I made every other dot a heart, still using the smallest dotter. I wanted the pattern to look delicate and girly. I really like the final result :)

Happy Belated Valentines!

I fell a tad bit behind again on Thursday and Friday, but better late than never, right? Today I have the Valentines mani I wore on Valentines day. I was super in the spirit of Valentines this year, I even went out and got my family each a little something complete in heart covered packaging, a pink bow and old school valentine cards. I left them out before I left the house Thursday morning as a surprise when they woke up!

Did you have anything planned on Thursday or over the weekend? I made dinner for my boyfriend, I also baked him a little something special and got him some chocolate, because you know, chocolate rocks! On to the nail art. I had so many ideas of what I wanted to to for valentines and when it actually came time to sit down and so it it was hard to make a final decision.

Using American Apparel's Coney Island as a base, I cut made a heart shaped template out of tape and stuck it to the middle of each nail so I could paint a heart on each nail. To fill in each heart I used Revlon Girly, which by the way I love so much more than I thought i would. Unfortunately the slight base colour was not enough of a contract with the pink base, so to make the heart shape stand out I used a dotting tool dipped in white acrylic paint to outline the heart. This was my first time using acrylic paint for nail art and I will absolutely be using it again! For dotting it was great because it doesn't dry up as quickly as polish and it has a nice thin consistency :)

Happy Valentines!

Happy Valentines Day! My Valentines mani today is actually a refresh with yesterdays polish, Moonlight. For this simple and fun manicure I created from red hearts freehand on my ring finger and thumb. To do this I dipped a dotting tool in to my red polish and drew small "v"'s. The red polish is Sally Hanson Salon (square bottle), Hearts On Fire. Such a perfect name right!? This is a deep red jelly.

To finish the mani off I applied one coat of China Glaze's White Cap to all of my nails and I was done! Doing my right hand was a bit challenging, but I think it came out pretty good! Plus I don;t think it's too overbearing, only 2 fingers per nail is not so over the top.

Here's one last photo with my camera flash to show the shimmer in White Cap.

I wore this mani for a a while, I added the hearts and White Cap on Wednesday and it still looks great!

A Glossy Konadicure

Hello ladies,

Wow, it's been a week since my last blog post! My cold is partly to blame, but I have really been feeling lazy lately... I hate it, I don't really want to do anything. Maybe it's the weather or something, I'm really hoping that spring comes soon :)

Although I haven't posted since last Thursday, my current mani was applied on Friday, so yea, you didn't miss much lol. I wanted to do some sort of Valentines themed mani so I looked at my collection of polishes and picked out some pinks and reds and did some skittle swatches to see what I liked best.

with flash indoors

no flash before appetizers arrived for Valentines :) I love how jelly this polish looks!

A shot my boyfriend took

I ended up going with NYC Glossies Raspberry due to its smooth application, jelly like appearance (although it is not) and shiny glossy finish. I applied 2 coats with it's wider than normal polishes brush. It was perfect! The only bad thing I can say about this polish is that I applied this mid afternoon and still got sheet marks the next day! Weird, maybe it's the formula, I mean, this polish is kind of old. A coat of Seche Vite made it perfect :)

I kept this polish on it's own for Friday and took photos... I had forgotten to insert my memory card in to my camera though so I don't have pictures :( I was very upset about this because I had some sunlight that day too!! Anyways, I still wanted something Valentines-y, but then decided to go will a full nail design from a Konad plate. I never used or really liked this one that much, but I feel like the upward lines really elongate the nails. It also was not to over the top so I applied it to every nail.

What do you ladies think, Valentines day appropriate?

On another note, wish me luck for tomorrow :) I am heading to the States to do some Presidents day sale shopping lol. Me and the boyfriend went last year too, this year we mapped out a bunch of stops along the way to major malls including Ulta (CANNOT WAIT!), Sally's and Big Lots. I hope to come back with a bunch of goodies to show you on Monday!

Valentine Kisses - A Fauxnad Mani

Hello Ladies,

Today I have a Valentines Day inspired mani since it is coming up soon. I used Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Sonic Bloom as my base added some kiss/lip BM stamping.

At first I didn't know 100% on how I was going to incorporate the lips/kiss stamping image. The initial idea I had was to to a white french mani and put a single kiss on select fingers below the French tip. But that had ben done before, I wanted something new. I thought of using Lubu Heels as a French mani with a red kiss, but red over black didn't work.

Right hand

In the end I decided to layer some pink and white kisses on my ring and thumb fingers so it looked like a full nail pattern. I really love the end result!

Right hand

It's a full nail pattern, but when used with similar colours and on a couple of nails is subtle and adds more interest than if i were to add it to each nail. The colours I used were perfect for this, a light pink and white, the two colours played well with each other and gave the design some depth.

I prefered the way that my right hand came out to my left hand. I did my left hand first, so it may have been the practice from that hand that made the right a little nicer.

What do you ladies think :)
