Target Closing Polish Picks

Target has just started to liquidate (if you can call it that) merchandise since their stores will be closing their doors in Canada this year. Kind of sad, I think they didn't give it enough time and the locations of their stores were not the greatest. They only just opened up a location close by late summer 2014! After renovating and setting up shop for less than a year the are shutting it down.
I was able to score some polishes for a reduced price, I won't argue with that! My first trip I purchased Sally Hansen, Mint Sorbet and L'Oreal, Too Dimensional?, both of which I have already worn

I'm pretty sure that they were only about 10-20% off, but the Xtreme Wear polishes were originally priced a lot lower than I have seen them before, just under $2 before the discount. I got Mint Sorbet for just over $1 and Too Dimensional? for just over $3. Not too bad.

As for sales, in the first week I went, nothing I was really reduced all that much... yet! But I'm sure anything that was discounted well was already scooped up before I got there. I waited until they dropped the prices any further before heading back a week ago and picked up a few more polishes which includes some Cover Girls and a Sally Hansen

From left to right I have Cover Girl Outlast Stay Brilliant Vio-last and Goldilocks and Sally Hansen  Triple Shine, Statemint.

Vio-last is a saturated blurple creme and Goldilocks is a deep orange based yellow, it reminds me of the shade of a school bus. Typically I would have not purchased the Cover Girl brand of polishes since I don;t usually consider them when shopping. However, I was impressed with a polish  was  gifted recently (Bon Bon)  and decided to try some others. They have some great brights. I got these both for 50% off the original price which made them under $3 each.

Sally Hansen Triple Shine, Statemint is a yellow based lime green creme. I also got this at 50% off, which came to under a dollar because the last ticketed price was clearance.

Swatches for all three polishes are shown below at one coat each!

I don't think I will be heading back to a Target before they close their doors in Canada. I still think it's a shame they are closing so prematurely, it may have worked had they given it more time. At least I still have the the U.S locations when I am cross boarder shopping.

Pumpkin Spice!!

Love this polish, love the name, just love it!! This is one of my all time favorite Halloween polishes! I wore it around Thanksgiving which was also appropriate due to the pumpkin reference.

I will keep this post short since I have posted about this polish in the past. Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear, Pumpkin Spice is a murky black jelly polish with copper glitter scattered throughout. At first glance from afar it appears to be black. The lovely copper glitter reflects beautifully throughout, they almost look like hot embers.

This polish is quite sheer, but the build up is worth it to get that squishy, jelly, glossy finish. I used three regular coats, not too think, not too thin, with some time in-between to build up this polish to an opacity I was comfortable with. You could always layer a coat or two over a black or darker base polish.
fun with my halloween "props"
Perfect for October! I'll let the photos speak for themselves.

Nail Mail!!

I got a package in the mail the other day all the way from France!! Ruxi is getting rid of some polishes in a blog sale and I decided to snatch some up! I'll start off with the two polishes I picked up extra, these were not the reason why I initially made the purchase but came along for the ride, plus they were a good price :) Here are my two new Kleancolor's, left to right, Disco Ball and Silver Lining.

Photobucket

These are both glitter top coats, Disco Ball has pink and blue glitter packed in a clear base, and Silver Lining is saturated with silver microglitter and medium sized purple hex glitter. Disco I got mostly to try out between some jellies. Silver Lining was a lot prettier that I originally thought in person, I'm actually wearing it right now, I'm happy with both of these!

Moving on now to a polish I already own bit wanted a backup of, Sally Hanson Xtreme Wear, Pumpkin Spice. If I was given the choice to wear only one polish all of October this would have to be it! I love it so! I wore this at the very beginning of October and fell in love! Since it is a jelly I needed three coats for opacity and consumed a good chunk of the polish with the bottles being so small. I was kind of sad because I loved it but didn't want to waste it. I was lucky to snatch up a backup bottle of this polish since it was limited edition and is now super hard to find.

Another hard to find jelly? The star of this haul!! Sinful Color Cinderella!! I'm so happy to finally own this one. Whenever I am in the States I search high and low for this one with no luck. Cinderella is a light baby blue jelly with pink and gold flecked shimmer, it is so unique and reminds me of Cinderella's ball gown in the movie.

All Braided Up! + Another Contest

Today I have a mani refresh with Zoya Song. I wanted to try out some nail art since I haven't really done anything freehand in a while. Braided manis have been popping up here and there for at least a year now and decided to try it out for myself.

After watching a few you tube videos and testing colour combos I came up with this:

Photobucket

The base colour (dark blue glitter) is Zoya Song, the medium blue foil is Orly Sweet Peacock and the silver foil is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Celeb City. it is hard to explain the actual method used to achieve this effect, but if you would like to see a tutorial I strongly suggest heading to You Tube and watching this video. I created the design on both ring fingers and thumbs.

Photobucket

I practised a bit before trying it on my nails and although it came out a little uneven in the above and below photos, I ended up cleaning it up a bit which you can see in the first photo of the post. This first photo is also a sneak peak at my latest entry for the NailPolishCanada.com holiday nail art contest. If you like it I'd really appreciate it if you voted for me :) No winners have been announced yet, I wonder when they will provide us with the results from the first week. I will show the full look I submitted tomorrow.

Photobucket

Once I got the hang of "braiding" the polish it was actually really run an easy. I want to try a Christmas colour themed one! White, Green and red, I think it would be fun. Have you ever tried a braided mani? What is your favourite colour combo?

Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice

I'm still catching up on some manis from last week, life has still been hectic for me lately. Last Monday was Thanksgiving in Canada, and what better polish to wear than Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear, Pumpkin Spice! Last year this polish was THE polish everyone needed for Halloween, and to be honest I wasn't one of those people that wanted it.

I have polishes that are similar like China Glaze Ick A-body and Wet n' Wild Cougar Attack and didn't feel I needed another one. A while after Halloween last year, actually closer to Christmas, I found this lone polish on clearance for 50% off. I figured I would pick it up to see what all the hype was about. I am soooo glad I did! I wouldn't say this isn't close to the other two polishes I mentioned, but it is definitely not the same.

The base is a murky brown jelly that builds up to very dark, but not quite black and is sprinkled with orange glitter which just glows in any lighting. Since it is a jelly it takes a few coats to build up but it is totally worth it, the depth is awesome. The shine is amazing as well!

I used three coats on my nails and so far it is wearing pretty well. I always worry with the wear of jellies, they tend to show more wear at the tips, but so far so good. I really love it and don't want to take it off or change it up yet, such a great polish for the month of October :)

Christmas Nails - Refresh

So here are my crazy festive nails again, but this time with some fauxnad. This design is from a dupe plate I purchase from bornprettystore.com, it's a copy of Konad plate M-65.

I stamped with Sally Hansen Insa-dri in Whirlwind White. I didn't apply topcoat fast enough and accidentally scraped off some of the design while cleaning up my room... Oops.

My boyfriend said they looked like little gifts! They reminded me of candy canes.

Red and Green Themed

I had an interestingly themed officer Christmas party this year. We all participated in a murder mystery in which we had to dress the part. The storyline was all Christmas themed so the first thing I thought about? My nails of course :)

My character was to be covered in red and green to stand out, so red and green my nails were!

I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Groovy Green and Love Hangover. I also took this opportunity to use my SH moisturizing base coat. A quick side note here, I find most SH base and topcoats don't play well together with other brands of polish, im talking crazy bubbling. So I tend not to use them. There is an exception however, they never seem to ruin my SH polish, conspiracy or what!

Anyways, my nails had been dry and brittle and I figured I would try it out. I applied 2 coats of each polish on every other finger. I would describe the finish of each polish to be an opaque jelly with iregular shaped glass flecks, such an awesome find. he red reminds me of OPI's Meep-Meep-Meep. They both have the same formula and applied flawlessly. I finished it off with NYC's quick dry top coat and I was set!

By the way, I totally won best costume :D

Sally Hansen - Mystic Lilac

Hello Ladies,

Today I have a Sally Hansen Xtreme wear polish from their new fall collection, Mystic Lilac.

Click for larger view!

This colour is a very grayed out lilac with a hint of teal shimmer. I don't consider this a cream, it's actually more of a jelly, but I'm not sure if it is a true jelly. It applied a bit thin, but I got away with 3 coats which is not bad. No visible nail line :)

I really like the texture on this one, if thats what you would call it. It is very shiny and reminds me of silly putty lol. Do you ladies know what I'm talking about?!

Overall I really like this colour and am glad I picked it up, its such a great fall shade. It's really getting me in the mood for fall, and I loooove fall, and Halloween and thanksgiving, and pumpkins and baking!! :) can't wait!!

I picked up this one before I even knew the new fall collection was out. Next thing I know a couple weeks later everyone is talking about it! Not only is the polish pretty and long lasting, but I snagged it for only $1!

What are your faves from this collection?

Past NOTD: Green With Envy

Evening Ladies :)

I am still in love with my "Bella's Choice" mani, so no new NOTD today. I do however have a past "refreshed" bundle monster manicure to show you.

I hate how there are so many greens with this name, but this is Sally Hansen's Green With Envy (Xtreme Wear).

Window, daylight

I can't remember how long I had this light green/yellow cream on for, but Im thinking at least 4 or 5 days. This was my first BM (Bundle Monster) experience. I decided to try something simple first, I went with the lotus flower on my ring fingers in Konad's green princess polish. The design transfered quite well.

Indoors, flash

I really liked this colour more that I thought I would, only 2 smooth coats were applied and it came out great. I didn't experience much tip wear and it lasted for a long time!

What's your favorite SH Xtreme Wear? If you don't own any which colour would you like to try?
