Muir Muir On the Wall

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today I have a lovely fall shade I have been longing for the last little while. It was one of those polishes I kept picking up and putting back down every time I saw it. Finally I own this polish, OPI, Muir Muir on the Wall.

I want to describe this shade as a deep wine, but the base is actually quite dark like a taupey brown/grey. It has a subtle duochrome with the most prominent colour dependant on the lighting. For the most part I would say you see more of the purple and wine tones. It is a great shade for fall and I love that I chose it to wear for thanksgiving!

The formula was excellent, nice and smooth not being too thick or thin. Only two light coats were needed for full opacity.

Polish Picks for Late Fall!

Finally, a short list of my fave polishes for fall! I meant to get this up earlier, however in September I was extending the wear of my summer polishes, and October was all about Halloween! November is the perfect month to rock some vampy fall shades before December when everything is snow and Christmas! Wow, where did this year go, it's almost December again!

I have so many fall polishes I love but I have narrowed it down to six different finishes with corresponding polishes for what I am loving this year. In no particular order here are my fall picks for 2013. You can click the link in the polish name to see the full posts I have on these polishes.

Creme - OPI, Skull and Glossbones

I love this light grey neural for fall. It has a great formula and looks simple and chic. A great base for glitter or nail art.

Shimmer - Revlon, Perplex

The taupe base in Perplex is another neutral, but the purple shimmer flash adds that something special. Another simply chic shade.

Texture - OPI, Get Your Number

A nice bright blue for fall, this Liquid Sands polish really reflects the cold weather we have been having lately! Full post to come soon on this shade.

The duochrome flash from teal to purple is so sparkly in the bright sunlight and super cool looking in overcast skies.

Glitter - China Glaze, Emerald Sparkled

Usually used more as a festive shade for Winter, this glitter is so deep and sparkly, perfect for late fall.

Matte - Zoya, Dovima

The perfect matte black with a hint of shimmer. This goes great with the leather clothing trend this fall.

Hot Lava!

Happy, Happy Friday! Such a perfectly fall polish today, for a sunny breezy fall day.

Sally Hansen Lava is apart of the Lustre Shine collection and is the only foily finish polish. In the bottle the duochrome looks super cool, at first glance I notice a pink copper and yellow gold. On the nail it is so much more than I expected it to be! Since It appeared more of a red/pink base, I wasn't sue how wearable it would be for me, I hardly wear any reds and a pink shimmer/foil is usually not my thing. But it was too pretty not to buy!

I used three coats on my nails, two coats were fine to build up for opacity but I added a third to smooth everything out. On my nails I see a flash from pink, copper, orange, gold and yellow, unlike anything in my collection and I love it! the perfect shade for fall, reminds me of the changing leaves.

After 3 full days of wear in indirect natural lighting
I am super duper fall and halloween inspired lately, I don't even care that it's not October yet! Already started watching horror movies and baking fall treats last weekend and intend on doing the same this weekend. I even picked up a baby pie pumpkin this week :) Cant wait to make him in to something yummy!

Zoya Haul!

I had mentioned that Zoya had a great promo going on at the end of August, buy one get one free on all  polish with a max of four polishes free. The great thing about this offer is that shipping was also free if you had at least six polishes in your cart at checkout.

I picked out all of my polishes out individually but noticed once I received them all that they are super perfect for fall!... maybe with the exception of only one polish.

So here is what I've got! Lets start with the shimmery polishes Left to right Song, Fiefie and Apple. (all full swatches of each polish are at the end of the post.)

Song is also apart of the latest fall collection and it is stunning! Application was outstanding, one coat gives you perfect coverage and glitter. The polish it's self is a deep royal blue shimmer jam packed with blue microglitter. The only thing that worried me about this polish is that it is so rich and pigmented it looks like it may cause staining, so beware! I have not yet tried this on my natural nails so I don't know for sure.

FeiFie is one of the two polishes I picked out from the fall collection, Designer & Diva, and it is even more stunning in person. I find it hard to describe it the exact shade, it has what appears to be a deep purple/blue base with gold and blue shimmer. It is the blue version of Daul from the Designer & Diva collection and similar in colour to one of my favorite Zoya's, Crystal.

Apple is the exception to the fall shades I've purchased. I had been wanting this one for a while but was convinced it was too close to another Zoya I have, Ivanka. Once compared side by side I think they are different enough to own both. They both have that awesome shimmery foil finish, and while Ivanka is deeper, Apple is lighter and more of a spring or summer shade. Ivanka still screams Christmas to me!

And the cremes Lulu, Envy and Pinta.

Lulu is a light, soft pink/coral. I'm not sure how many coats are needed for opacity, I would have to test it out on my natural nails to decide. The formula on this one is awesome, self leveling and smooth. This can easily be used as a base for a French manicure or built up on its own.

Envy is a deep, dark mossy green that builds up perfectly in two coats. I noticed something unexpected during application, there appeared to be a graininess and slight blue sheen when wet. Once dry I did not see much shimmer or grain.

I have seen Pinta around for a while now and was indifferent. It looked pretty but did I really need it? To put it simply, YES! This beautiful deep plum is a one coater and perfect for fall. It's more of a blurple type colour and I love it :)

Below are some quick swatches of each polish

Which one is your fave? Did you participate in the promo? If so, what polishes did you pick up?

Space Nails

Hello ladies,

Today I have THE colour of fall, it is just so perfect and fall! Originally when I saw swatches for Orly's Cosmic FX line Space Cadet didn't really do anything for me, not my colour I thought.

After seeing pictures of this beauty on other blogs I knew I wanted it. I actually came across these before they were supposed to be released at a Sally's in Buffalo. I spotted them in the back of the store at the end of August but I thought that $8.99 was too much when I brought them up to pay so I left them. I was soooo kicking myself a month later when these were nowhere to be seen!

When I couldn't find Space Cadet anywhere and saw MORE photos I knew I HAD TO HAVE IT! I was going nuts trying to find it! I finally found the full collection online (M Beauty Lounge) for a $6.75 and they shipped to Canada! SCORE!! By awesome boyfriend got me Space Cadet, Galaxy Girl and Out of this world (I have the dupes for the other 3)

Anyways, on to my many photos :)

I used 2 coats of Space Cadet over I coat of black. Please enlarge the photos for all the sparkly, foily, flakie, duochromy goodness, the photos are huge! :)

looks so cool in the bottle, 2 shots here to show you all the colours in the polish.

In the light I saw more of a copper/gold colour.

I love you you can see so many different colours at once, I didn't get bored of this polish at all!

The base is green but when I wore it I hardly saw green. In low light I got a purple/pink foil.

I dont think there is anything else to say, enjoy the photos :)

On a side note, has anyone ever ordered from M Beauty Lounge before? Have you ever heard of it?

Sally's Pumpkin

Hey Ladies,

Today I have a halloween/fall colour, Orange Pumpkin from Sally Hansen's New Lengths Ceramics line.

I think this colour is the perfect fall orange, its not overly bright or neon and has a very slight undertone of red (although the pictures may show it a bit more). Actual colour is close to the bottle pic above, click to enlarge.

Although I love any reference to fall and halloween, I kind of wish they were a little more creative with the name lol. Orange Pumpkin? Oh well. I actually have a couple other Sally Hansen Ceramic polishes with similar "halloween names". I should gather them up and make a short post of it. Nothing out of the ordinary, your standard colours, orange, white and black.

Over all I really like this colour, perfect orange for me. I find that neon oranges are a little too bright for me. The application was great, I used 3 coats, but could have gotten away with 2. This polish is super shiny and glossy, in the pics I am not wearing a topcoat.

Dry time was a little weird. I THOUGHT it had dryed pretty well and fast, I'm not sure if my coats were too thick or something, but i painted my nails on Sunday morning and on Monday morning I woke up with some sheet marks... kinda weird. Never happened when I wore this polish before.

Expect to see some halloween nail art with this polish in the next couple of days ;)

What is your favorite colour for halloween?

Fall Fauxnad

Hi Ladies,

Today I have some Konad/Fauxnad with my previous mani, OPI - Greenwitch Village

I used the houndstooth pattern from the Bundle Monster plate set. This was my first time using one of their full nail designs, it wasn't too difficult to get the stamp center, but I had to practice a bit.

For the stamping polish I used an old Sally Hansen 10 Day No Chip polish (they come in the thinner rectangular/square bottles) The colour I used is Black Berry, its a really really REALLY dark blue in the bottle but stamps black. It's great because it is highly pigmented and dries fast, BUT if you mess up you can just scratch it off and stamp again! I love that! As long as you seal it with a topcoat when you are done, you are good to go :)

It's a little gappy on the sides, but I tried my best to get it entered and straight without having to double stamp every finger.

This was also my first time trying to match up stamp patterns on my thumb nail. They really need to make these design bigger! And I definitely need to practice for next time.

What do you think of the thumb? does it look even to you? lol
