My Vampire is Hot—Pink!

I decided I wanted to a non-traditional French tip. Something not so classic and more modern. What I decided on was a light, fully opaque base and a slip neon tip.

For my base I used OPI My Vampire is Buff, which as I mentioned in my last post  is an awesome neutral shade. It has more yellow undertones than pink, which work really great with my skintone. Two easy coats were applied to my nails.

Shortly after the base had some time to dry, I applied my hot pink tips. For this I used Color Club Raspberry Rush. Raspberry Rush is apart of the Wicked Sweet collection released in the summer of 2011. All of the polishes in the collection have a fruity scent. I would have assumed the scent of this polish I be raspberries, however to be it smelled exactly like my favorite flavour of bubblegum as a child, Bubblicious, Paradise Punch. Childhood memory below!!

The scent wasn't too overbearing, I really had to sniff my nails after they dried, and almost or got it was scented! I sure if it was applied to the while nail the scent would be stronger.

Using the brush from the polish, I carefully applied the neon shade to the very tips of my nails. With a steady hand and and quick swipe, I matched the other slim crescents on the rest of my nails. I wouldn't say it was 100% perfect, however I am really happy with the end result. I also do think my photos show off every imperfection but in person it looks a bit more flawless.

The one think I learned about using a neon on the tips of my nails is that they wear fairly quickly. Other than the slight tip wear to most the nails. This wore very well. I am also considering applying the same thing to my toes!

Revlon Gelato

I purchased some Revlon's mid to late last year, I want to say end of summer maybe? They were both apart of the fully scented Scented Treats collection. I got two from the collection that stuck out to me, Mint Gelato and Lemon Meringue. While looking through my collection trying to figure out what to wear I decided to try them out together! I would use Mint Gelato on all fingers but the ring.

I started to apply Mint Gelato and to my surprise realized it was a jelly polish! It actually applied quite well, a little sheer for the first coat but it evened out nicely. A second coat was all I needed for full opacity with a glossy finish. Next I set out to apply Lemon Meringue to my ring fingers, unfortunately the formula was not the same as I expected :( it wasn't so much a jelly as it was a watery creme.I needed three coats to get the streaks put and achieve full opacity. I applied Seche Vite and went to bed...

The next morning I woke up with sheet marks on my left hand, mostly just on the ring finger :( I don't get it! I applied thin even strokes and it still didn't dry properly. I always seem to have an issue with Revlon polishes, usually having to do with dry time. Mint Gelato also had a problem unfortunately, bubbling! That one I really do not get because I used two very thin coats with ample dry time in between. The only possible explanation I can come up with is that I had applied lotion before painting my nails, but I swiped each nail bed with polish remover and used a base coat. Luckily the bubbles are not very noticeable, I will have to do some tests with this polish to see if it was the lotion or the formula of the polish that was the issue.

Overall I really like Mint Gelato, which actually has more of a mint chocolate scent, very sweet. Not too crazy about Lemon Meringue, I like the colour but the formula and dry time bothers me. The sweet lemon scent is also very faint.

Fish Scales

Another sea related nail post... Surprised!? lol I think I have gotten it out of my system now. Since Revlon's Ocean Breeze had a slight duochrome I thought it would be the perfect base of a fish scale/mermaid tail inspired mani.

I had my eye set on plate RA-111 from Red Angel's latest collection from before I even purchased them! To stamp the pattern I used my new Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Jumpin' Jade. I love how the Insta-Dri polishes work with stamping, so perfect. Plus I picked this up for one dollar at the Dollar Tree! Not bad for a stamping polish ;)

This one almost even looks like dragon scales or something! I really love this pattern and will have to try it again soon :)

Happy Friday, have a good weekend!

Scent of the Ocean

I just noticed a theme here with the polish and nail art/designs I have been wearing lately, they all have something to do with the beach! Yup, I love summer! Although I honestly feel like the weather for May and June have been reversed, it has been nothing but grey skies and rain the first few days of June :( Oh well, it should warm up soon. Keeping with that theme I have an oldie Revlon, Ocean Breeze.

Ocean Breeze is appart of the first set of polishes I got when I started hoarding, now my tastes have changed a bit and I find this colour to be a bit out of my comfort zone. It is a green, teal, blue light duochrome with a slightly frosty finish. It's not so much frosty as it leaves behind brushstrokes if not applied carefully. This is what I don't like, but this is a beautiful colour.

At a reasonable distance on the nail it looks really cool, but up close the brush strokes bother me, so stamping will probably happen tonight. I know of a way to get rid of brush strokes but didn't have the time when I originally applied the polish.

I almost forgot to mention that this is apart of the scented collection, to me it just smells fresh. Not too strong or overpowering, I actually quite liked it! I could even smell it once I applied a coat of Seche Vite to even everything out.

Get Your Lem-on

When I first saw Color Club's Wicked Sweet collection I was super excited about the yellow polish with the turquoise/green shimmer, Get Your Lem-on. Previous to trying it I had seen reviews of the full collection and heard that it was one of the sheerest in the bunch. I was kind of disappointed at first, but figured I could get the colour to be bright and opaque with a base of white :)

I tried a white polish I got not too long ago, an old formula Sally Hansen Insta-Dri. It did dry super quick but I think I should have added one last coat to even the white out. Get Your Lem-on being was sheer that you could actually see the subtle streaking of the white beneath :(

Three coats later I decided that I had too much polish on my nails and it was time to stop. I sealed everything off with Seche Vite so all the layers would dry fast and went to sleep. In the morning I woke up to a blindingly bright yellow mani! The shimmer wasn't too visible which again I was kind of disappointed about. It wore pretty good for 2 days but then something weird happened. I wore really dark blue jean capris and it actually stained my nail polish! I wish I had taken a picture to show you, there were little crack marks of blue, it almost looked dirty. My sister called it ghetto crackle lol

Anyways, this was of course not the polishes fault, I'm sure it could have happened with any light polish. I ended up doing nail art to camouflage the marks and I will show you that tomorrow.

Over all I love the bight neoness of this polish. Although it isn't that apparent in the photos, I can assure you it is blinding. Next time I wear this I will make sure that the white polish beneath is fully opaque and take my time with it. I almost forgot to mention that this polish is scented also! The scent remindes me of lemon gum drops, it was strong when first applied, but faded significantly over a couple of days. If it wasn't so sheer it would be perfect! That, if the shimmer was still visable.

Stay tuned for a funky mani refresh!

Give Me A Grape Big Kiss!

Wowzers, do not know what happened to me last week, must have been too excited for the long weekend, totally neglected my blog for the later part of the week. The good news is that I have LOTS to show you this week, and I will have more information coming shortly on the sale of the Sally Hansen Prisms. I just have to work out shipping costs and edit the photo swatches and we are good to go!

Now on to the polish I wore late last week, this is from Color Clubs latest summer collection, Wicked Sweet. This pretty purple is called Give Me a Grae Big Kiss!

I think I may need to start using my SLR again, because this colour was really hard to capture. It is a red leaning purple, but it is definitely not pink! I even compared it to the haul shots I took of it previously and in those outdoor shots it looked more blue toned! That's weird.

Anyways this applied perfectly in 2 coats, and although it is a cream, it reminded me of a jelly :) It smelled pretty good too, like candy grape. Even with a coat of Seche Vite on top the scent was not hidden. The formula on this polish was great, and I would like to wear ALL of this polishes from the Wicked Sweet collection before the end of summer. I hope the formula is consistent.

Yummy Gum Drop :)

Hello ladies,

I was in a springy mood this weekend so I decided to wear a girly pastel from Revlon called Gum Drop. This polish was apart of the scented collection Revlon released last year. I actually liked the scent of this one, sweet and sugary, like candy :)

lamp light

Although it is a pretty shade, it took 4 coats to reach opacity and smooth out any streaking. Worried that it would take forever to dry, I grabbed Seche Vite for my topcoat and it dried perfectly!

The actual colour is a light lilac leaning blue, simular to China Glazes Light as Air, but brighter. I actually like how this one isn't to stark, the formula wasn't quite a creme, not quite a jelly. And although it took 4 coats to build up the colour, the end result gave amazing depth.

I wore this polish to my second trip to the U.S, I took some pics in the car with my newest coach bag :)

I wore this polish for 4 days and started to get some chipping on my thumb nail by the end of the 4th day. I could still faintly smell the scent also. I had wanted to do some cute nail art with with the colour but I couldn't make up my mind! I ended up doing some nail art that I didn't like and eventually took all off and painted over lol.

Another car photo, this time with some yummy snacks :)

Over all I really love this colour, I would really like to wear it under China Glaze's Cracked Concrete (it's in the mail, wooot!). I actually purchased a back up of this shade also because I liked it so much, I had originally first tried it on my toes. I kept telling my boyfriend to smell my toes lol

Do you like the Revlon scented polishes? Which is your favorite?
