Cosmic Fate

Holo photo spam ahead!

I haven't worn a holo polish in a while and was feeling springy, so today I have (what I think is) Color club Cosmic Fate. This polish doesn't have a label at the bottom unfortunately, but I am pretty sure it is Cosmic Fate... I hope!

In the bottle the shade appears to be a peachy nude holo, but on the nail it looks more of a peachy pink, more saturated that I originally thought it to me. Maybe it's just my skintone? I am still wearing my Bio Seaweed Gel base, I find that when I have worn this before under a holo polish it really helps the holo to come through more and look glossy without a topcoat. It also makes application a breeze! I don't recall if Color Club's formula for holos is usually difficult, however, I did not need to apply a special (ie. Aqua Base) base polish.

I only needed two medium coats for full opacity and it dried quickly and smoothly as most holos do. What a rainbow effect! So fun and bright. Below is a photo of my rarely seen right hand, in case you can't tell in the photos above, I had a break in my middle nail, of course, just when everything else is growing out perfectly! I figured I should include a photo with a more even length of nails.

I plan on filing my nails down a bit, not to match the break exactly, but to help them look more even. I'll do this after removing the gel base in a few days.

A Gel Sandwich Test and Review

 photo IMGP6892_zps4f6b8b52.jpg

I received a package from Bio Seaweed Gel Last week with some samples to share with you! Here is a little background on the product from their site:

Bio Seaweed Gel is a professional gel system. Gel polish is applied to either natural nails, artificial nails or even acrylic nails just like regular nail polish but with many more advantages. Gel cures (dries) instantly under UV/LED light so there is no more waiting time as per regular nail polish. Gel is designed to be durable and more suitable for the busy everyday life, created to last 2+ weeks with no chips, lifts or cracks. That is essentially the difference between gel polish and regular nail polish.

Now, you ask yourself how is Bio Seaweed Gel is different than all other competitor gel polish brands? Our brand offers a distinct value and difference because: No dehydrators to thin or stain the natural nails – regardless of wear time. Created to promote natural nail growth. FORMALDEHYDE, TOLUNE, DPB, SOLVENTS & BHA FREE Safe and gentle both during application and removal: no sanding, buffing, primers or bonders needed for application. The industry’s quickest soak-off removal in under 10 minutes.

Versatility: A separate Diamond Shine Top and No-Sanding Base Gel Polish, as well as a Strengthener Builder Gel to complete tip and sculpture extensions.

User-friendly: simple steps and self-leveling make Bio Seaweed Gel quick to learn and a pleasure to work with, our products never shrink or wrinkle – ideal for nail art (140+ colours!)

Innovation: UNITY All-In-One Gel Polish is the original professional top, base, colour & strengthener all-on-one bottle, with no cleansers needed! (the colours dry to the touch with no sticky inhibition layer unlike any other).

They supplied me with two coloured UV gel polishes, one UV diamond shine top coat gel, a coarse nail file and some fun nail art stickers! I will be testing the wear of the UV gel polish on my toes with the UV gel base (purchased by myself) and UV diamond top coat. On my fingers I wanted to try something a little different. I've always wondered what the wear would be like of a regular polish sandwhiched between a UV base and top coat. What better time to try this then on my vacation right!? I will be testing the wear for a full week and report back with the results when I am back.

On my toes:

Base Coat - 1 coat, cured for 2 minutes
Summer Peach - 2 coat, cured for 2 minutes
Diamond Top Coat - 1 coat, cured for 2 minutes

On my fingers:

Base Coat - 1 coat, cured for 2 minutes
Son of a Peach - 3 coats with LOTS of dry time
Diamond Top Coat - 1 coat, cured for 2 minutes

Sweet Peach is a tad off, it is not as pink/red. more of a bright coral.

My matching nail art lol. I am wearing this on my vacation ^_^

 photo IMGP6889_zps0ecd8410.jpg

I had some issues with the application of Son of a Peach that may have been due to the reaction with the base coat. I applied three coats to even it out the best I could. If doing this again I would apply a topcoat right after the base, cure and then apply the regular polish and finish off with another UV top coat to seal it all in. The key here is to ensure the polish is 100% dry before applying the top coat and curing.

Bio Seaweed UV Gels are easy to apply, the formula is thick but easy to manage and the colour options are awesome!

I will report back after my vacation to let you know how the mani and pedi stood up to a week on the beach!

A Glitzy Refresh

Today I have a mani refresh with yesterday's Color Club polish Oh Naturale. I wanted to do some stamping so I grabbed Konad plate M-57 and used the leopard print. I think I have used this one the most out of all the plates I own! I stamped using Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Whirlwind white, this has been my go to stamping polish lately.

It looked cute on it's own but I was feeling something shiny so I added a top coat of NYX Girls Gilded Glitter. This sparkly gold glitter has a faint, sheer base of gold and I realigning the effect it gave over the white, it Madeira look not to stark. The actual glitter pieces are all chopped up and irregular which is the reason why I got it, it's so random and awesome.

Mannequin Hands?

Today I have a polish I purchased from American Apparel, Mannequin. I'm pretty sure it's apart of the latest shades released, although I'm not sure when exactly it was released.

I would describe this shade as a nude cream with yellow undertones. The yellow undertone is was made me need this polish. Most nudes look pink on me and I thought this one would mesh better with my skin colour.

Overall application sucked for an AA polish. Every other one I own applies like butter, usually in one coat and is greatly pigmented. Mannequin applied very streaky and thick the first coat, I thought I got a bad bottle or something. Sure enough after searching around other blogs, they had the same to say.

That being said, with a little bit of thinner two coats worked fine for me. Seche Vite also helped to smooth everything out and add a glossy finish.

Overall I really liked this polish on my nails and think it would even work well in the summer time when I have a bit of a tan. It would be the perfect light peach for my skin tone.

Thankgiving Half Moon

Hi ladies,

*note - super busy today, I had thought I pushed publish last night for this to upload automatically, but I did not. Sorry for the late post, hope you enjoy!*

Today I have a half moon mani attempt for you! My sister asked me to give her a half moon mani in black and white, I thought great, I can get some practice! And after a couple days of her wearing it, I couldn't help but want to create my own :)

What I had planned on doing was using one coat of Color Club - Oh Naturale and a coat or 2 on top of OPI's Ginger Bells for a Thankgiving/fall half moon :)

What ended up happening was a mess... I used reinforcement stickers as a guide for the half moon apparently too soon (some of the polish pulled up) and all of moons were left uneven :( This may have been due to the fact that I had my whole family coming over within half an hour for dinner and was in a rush!

What I ended up doing was taking everything off and painting 2 coats of Ginger Bells and leaving it like that for the night. The next day I took a striper brush and filled in the half moon with Oh Naturale lol. Definitely not ideal, but it worked! I sealed it all in with thin topcoat and this was the final product.

I think I definitely want to try the half moon mani again (the proper way) free hand. I feel like I would have more control of the final moon and it would be easier to get all nails consistent.

What do you ladies think? Can you tell I painted the half moon on top?

Oh Naturale

Hi ladies,

Today I have a polish from one of the Winners Color Club collection packs I purchased recently, Oh Naturale.

This colour is a peachy/orange jelly and I used 1 coat on my nails in these photos. The reason for the 1 coat was because I wanted to attempt a half moon mani with this and another colour, but more on that tomorrow.

Over all one coat was alright, I have visible nail line but for one coat of a jelly, it produced decent coverage overall.

I did have some issues with this polish. Some of the spots I went over a little thicker with polish took a lot longer than I thought to dry (which is not good when you want to stick nail guides on the polish!)

In retrospect, I should have painted my nails earlier in the day with this colour and did the half moon closer to the end. Unfortunately I was limited for time, helping out with Thanksgiving and making mini pumpkin spice cupcakes :)

Oh well, I will let you guys see how my half moon turned out tomorrow.

What do you think of this jelly? Decent coverage for 1 coat?

Revlon Polishes - Quick and Dirty Haul Swatches

Hey Ladies,

While changing my polish yesterday I did some quick and dirty skittle swatches of the majority of my Revlon haul. The 2 I didn't include were Gum Drop and Plum Night, Gum Drop is a back up that I have already used on my toes :) and Plum night I had alright swatched the day I got the polishes :) ... but forgot to photograph

On to the polishes:

From left to right - Peach Nectar, Peach Smoothy, Grey Suede, Lilac Pastelle

Lilac Pastelle - a nice lilac cream/jelly? (this was a weird one, semi-jelly? lol either way I like it). 2 coats, applied pretty evenly. If I were wearing this for a full mani I would probably apply 1 last thin coat to avoid any streaking.

I like this colour, it is a bit lighter than Gum Drop and leans more red, where as Gum Drop leans more blue.

Grey Suede - a light brown cream with light golden shimmer. 2 coats, applied very well! I love the subtle shimmer this polish has, this will be great for fall. I wonder how it would look with a matte top coat... I wish I had thought of that last night when swatching!

Although the polish is named "Grey" Suede, the polish is actually a light taupe brown.

Peach Smoothy - a light peach cream with subtle golden shimmer. 2 coats, applied evenly. This is a very nice neutral, the shimmer adds that little something special.

This was one of the Revlon Scented polishes. From what I can remember from last night, the scent was sweat, but not too peachy. It reminded me of vacation lol.

Peach Nectar - a peach jelly. 2 coats, applied evenly. If I were wearing this as a full mani I would definitely add another coat or 2, I didn't expect this shade to be so sheer, it looks so bold and bright in the bottle. I think the extra coats would eliminate the VNL and this polish can also double as a base for a French Mani.

So what do you think of these polishes? Whats your fave?

Revlon Warehouse Sale Haul and a Blog Award :)

Hi Ladies!

Today is the first official day of fall, woot :) As much as I love summer, fall kicks ass. I love that change in season, and I LOOOOVVEEE Halloween, so definitely looking forward to that!

Anyways, on to my mini Haul. I checked out the Revlon/ Johnson & Johnson Sale over the weekend, I was thankful to hear about it over at in a nutshell..., I missed it the last 2 times it was around so thanks for blogging about it :)

Overall it was just ok, nothing too special, plus one side of the warehouse had really weird stuff ... in that section I picked up some halloween cookie cutters lol, this was among the not to weird stuff.

On to what I purchased, nail polish of course:

Left to right: Plum Night, Gum Drop, and Lilac Pastelle

Plum Night - a deep, dark purple
Gum Drop - A light lavender purple with blue undertones (scented when dry)
Lilac Pastelle - a slightly lighter lavender than Gum Drop, red undertones

Left to right: Peach Smoothy, Peach Nectar and Grey Suede

Peach Smoothy - a light peach with subtle shimmer (scented when dry)
Peach Nectar - a medium light peach cream
Grey Suede - a grey/brown/taupe with subtle shimmer

I picked all of these these polishes up for $10, the promo was 3 for $5. They still had a good range of colours left considering the sale started last Tuesday and I went on Saturday. I already owned some of the brighter colours they had, so I left them (with the exception of gum drop, love the colour and the scent!)

Also purchased but not pictured was 2 bottles of Vaseline Sheer Infusion for me and my boyfriend, I got him hooked on this! Its a great lotion, but for the size you get, it is pretty pricy, between $7-$9. At the sale they were $4.50 each.

Now on to the award :) I received the Happy 101 Award yesterday from Anita over at Splashings of Serendipity!

I love the cupcakes, they look so yummy! Thanks again Anita :)

I still have to tag 10 bloggers for this award and 10 for the previous award I received. But it is so hard to pick, so many great blogs! I will definitely post up tonight who I will give these awards to, so stay tuned.

Have a great Tuesday everyone :)

NOTD - Revlon Peach Petal

Hello Ladies,

Happy Friday :) I'm soooo looking forward to the long weekend, plus I took Tuesday off too, so it's an extra long weekend for me!

Today my polish is Revlon Peach Petal, I purchased this along with Minted and Gum Drop a while back from the Superstore when they had a promo if you buy 3. It was so long ago I forget what the price was! Anyways, moving on, these were the first Revlon polishes I have ever purchased so I didn't know what to expect.

Colour
The colour is a pretty light peachy pink, this can change deppending on your lighting from more peach or more pink. I really like it with my skin tone.

Application and Formula
The formula was kinda weird on this one compared to the other polishes I have used, it was thin yet thick, if that makes any sense. It was harder to apply because I feel that after polishing one had I had to close the bottle and roll it a bit so it wasn't so thick applying on the other hand.

It took 3 coats to build up the colour you see in the pictures. Unfortunately, looking at my nails now I am considering an additional coat, you can't tell in the pictures but the polish isn't that even on my nails.

The Brush
The brush was a little smaller than I am used to and I felt like I needed to do more than 3 swipes for full coverage. I am really loving the OPI brushes lately ... and OPI polish in general :)

Overall Thoughts
I really do love this colour, it is very light and girly but I don't like now many coats it takes to build it up plus additional clean up. I had applied Gum Drop ( a lovely light lavender) earlier this week to my toes and the formula for that polish was slightly better, I will have to try my other Revlon polishes before I give my thoughts on the brand as a whole. It sucks that their formula isn't the best because they are starting to come out with some great shades and they are readily available to a lot of people.

What do you think about Revlon polishes? Which one is your favorite

Claire's Dreamsicle

Hello ladies :)

Today I have Dreamsicle from Claire's to share with you.

Indoors, flash

This is an orange/peach jelly which is also very sheer. I can't remember how many coats of polish I used for this one. Unfortunately, because of all of the coats this made the polish bubbly. Next time I use this colour I will have to be sure to be more patient and use thinner coats. Overall application was not that great but the end result (excluding the bubbles) I really did end up liking.

I just got this new china glaze and liked the contrast
between the orange and the blue :)

I ended up using a bundle monster design to cover up the bubbles underneath, I liked this better in real life more than how it came out in the pictures. The pattern was more subtle and the white was more faded. I would like to try this one out again, I really liked the colour.

What are your thoughts on my manicure?
